Sorry, but your agency is giving you the royal screw. Do you actually have a license in the US? If so, I would not even leave for there until you have the endorsement completed.

Makes no sense, as you can get more money working at McDonald's.

And this agency need to be reported for making changes to the contract that you initially signed, it is illegal for them to do so. And just before your interview.

Shame on them.

I really feel terrible about it.You think I can actually sue them or cite that to void my contract with them later on?Cause the original job offer didn't state any pre-licensure rate, they "just updated" it since the embassy here wants a pre-licensure rate.That's why I want to hear from other nurses who may have had similar experiences with their agencies.Cause I heard some agencies even offer an $8/hr pre licensure rate until the nurse passes NCLEX in the US.Since we'll get a greencard can we just work at McDonalds then?(hehe just want inject humor in a really serious situation)

The NJ BON said that they wont be able to continue to process the endorsement of my license unless I have an SSN and Visa number.

that's the case if one has CGFNS certification only to get an immigrant visa....if one already passed NCLEX-RN, then he doesn't have to go through this pre and post-licensure thing....

I think sooner, passing NCLEX-RN will become a requirement for an immigrant visa.

And as I keep saying, the nurse needs to pass the NCLEX-RN and have a license in the US before going over there. And I have said it all along. You are at least one step ahead, in that you have taken the NCLEX exam.

As soon as you get to the US, you will get the SSN# about one week later, you can apply for it as soon as you get to the US. The license should follow rather quickly afterwards for you...............

But the others are in a real pickle.

I have seen the US Embassy hold up visas for nurses that have not taken the NCLEX exam, as they will not be getting RN salaries when they get over and you can not live on what they want to pay you. Most of you would argue with that, but you will not have enough to do anything on minimum wages, you are better off staying in the Philippines until you have passed the NCLEX exam.

It says in the packet 4 that we need to present a copy of the updated notarized job offer from our US employers on the day of our interview at the embassy. As tackeled in another thread here, failure to submit this updated job offer on the day of the interview can be cause of delay for the release of the Visa.The updated job offer is supposed to state your pre and post licensure rate(salary). When I recieved the updated job offer I'm supposed to present at the embassy it stated there that I am to recieve $10/hr and work as a Nursing Aide until the endorsement of my license to NJ. This came as quite a shock:confused: since the original job offer I signed did not state a pre licensure rate.
To those who have recieved their pre and post licensure rates, how much are your pre licensure rate?(since it has been mentioned alot).Just so I (and probably others) can have an idea if their pre licensure rate is within the normal/acceptable range.

Just want to share mine. By the way I just finished my interview, about the preand post nclex rate. In my case, i don't have an nclex yet. It was stated in my contract that prior to being liscensed and after i will receive $20.24 per hr . The prevailing wage will be subject to adjustment in accordance to wage adjustment process or change in job duties. And until I passes the nclex exam it will be an extended orientation duties as a registered nurse.

Just want to share mine. By the way I just finished my interview, about the preand post nclex rate. In my case, i don't have an nclex yet. It was stated in my contract that prior to being liscensed and after i will receive $20.24 per hr . The prevailing wage will be subject to adjustment in accordance to wage adjustment process or change in job duties. And until I passes the nclex exam it will be an extended orientation duties as a registered nurse.

I know it's terrible, but luckily the NJ BON is just waiting for my Visa number and SSN for them to continue processing the endorsement of my license.And I just hope like what Suzanne said that my license should follow quickly afterwards.

So, I guess it's really best that nurses have their US licenses in the state where they're going to work first(if at all possible) or at last begin with the process of endorsing before going there.

What state are you going to?

I had my interview yesterday morning Sept 7 and all went well.Now the anxiety of waiting for our passports with the Visa!!

Good for you you have already your nclex... so there is no problem with you already you will just wait for your visa. Once, your already in the states you can get na your SSN as well as your RN liscense.

Most probably if we don't have any problem in our papers during our interview our visa will takes only a few days... What do you think, am I correct? Im quite upset waiting for the visa, hope that next week we will have our visa...

By the way, I will be going to Minnesota. Just continue posting esp if you have your visa.

Let's continue praying... I knew God is good and trust in Him...

I would check the state's BON where you are going to. Unless you have a limited permit in hand, they cannot keep you in orientation as a registered nurse for an extended time. Most facilities will not permit it for more than three days, or you are practising without a license. CGFNS alone does not permit anything in the US, you must have gone thru the licensing procedure, and completed everything but taking of the NCLEX exam for the limited or interim permit.

And where are you going to that you are going to be paid that rate? That is extremely low for most areas.

Where in MN are you going to? That rate is extremely low.........are you working in a hospital or LTC?

That only takes a short time if you have a US license already. Just c oupe of weeks at most.
