post-planning

Do any of you work post-planning days? We work 2 pre and 2 post. Pre-planning I made copies of forms, reviewed kids from last year with chronic illnesses that would need care-plans and kind of got a head start on those, but was kind of bored the rest of the time. The first day of post, I'm doing a CPR class for a few who have requested it, but not sure what else to do to fill my days without any kiddos there to take care of.

Do you have end of year reports for you state? I do those. I also make copies of anything that can start me off better for the next year. Clean out drawers and closets, defrost and scrub the fridge, take down the decorations. Make a list of 504 plans. Organize the health records that came from the middle school and double check all those immunizations. We have 6 days after the students this year because of all the days that had to be made up from the snowstorm. They let the kids get out on time and moved all our inservice days till the end of the year. Really not sure what I am going to do for 6 days. I will have a good book for sure!

i wish - we only get one day at the beginning of the year and a half a day at the end. This year i'm losing my office and moving to another school and i have so much to do... all on my time :(

It sounds like a great time to create a list of all of the things that you have done through the year to be given to your administration. Things like: Administered XX doses of medication, Assessed and treated XX injuries, Assessed and treated XX students for illness, Sent XX students home for illness, Made XX parent contacts by phone...

There isn't any reason not to be proud of what you have accomplished and toot your own horn a little.

i have an idea but nothing has been made official at this point... grr. They didn't even get me boxes so i could pack. They got them for the teachers (school is closing and merging with another school) but not me. I'm tempted to just pack my few personal effects and make them worry about the rest but i'm afraid everything will get thrown out.

I'm glad someone brought up this subject! I am not on the teacher's contract or schedule-I am considered a support person. I will be working for one week after school ends (teachers and students are gone), but the worse thing is that I will return in early August-- 4 1/2 weeks before teachers and students!! This happens every year and it is so boring! I purposely have not cleaned my office in several weeks, just so I have something to do. If anybody else has any ideas on passing the time in a productive way, I sure would love to hear it! Have a wonderful simmer everyone!
