Take a breath :) This is far less complicated than it looks, at least per your post.

You love your current job, were just promoted. That's all good. You dislike your PDN job, so that can go. There is permissible job hopping going on all the time. I've had two jobs that lasted less than six months, and since they run concurrently with another job I did keep, I don't bother mentioning them on my resume'.

It sounds like money is tight in general? You need that second source of income? The world is your oyster, there are innumerable per diem type positions out there in a variety of settings. Have you tried UR? Or telephone triage? Maybe working with adults in PDN? Or a per diem HH position? Give it a whirl -- whatever you want to do.

That's the beauty of nursing. Job hopping happens, especially the per diem ones, and there's no harm in it. By leaving the jobs you spent a short time with off your resume', it's not LYING. The resume' is your statement of capacity and experience, what you want a prospective employer to know about you, it's not a rap sheet

Why don't you keep the job you love and look for a different PRN job?

THIS! Not everyone is cut out for peds (or any other specialty), but you can probably find a prn home health job with an older population PRN and keep the job you love. They promited you to supervisor, in the future you may rise even higher with the company and you said you love it, so stay there!

I do need a 2nd job due to the unsteady income with case management. When I first came to this state, I had a PRN job with a well known staffing company but was never given work and they were not happy I could only work shifts on the weekend. So, I never worked an actual shift and I thought it was best I just leave. I suppose that is why there is some anxiety over picking up another PRN job. At the current PDN job, I actually had to fight for orientation with trach/vent children. I thought that was very strange they wanted nurses going into homes that lacked experience without proper training. I did have one case per week but the mother decided it wasn't a good fit and wanted more hrs during the week. I suppose that is when I realized Pediatrics wasn't for me. I worked very hard in that home and the mother still didn't like me. I just think I am better suited for the adult population.

Instead of PDN, try home health. Instead of spending an entire shift with one patient, you can do home visits for many in one day.

Maybe I'm misunderstanding, but having a second per diem job is NOT considered job hopping... am I missing something?
