So, I just took my boards for the 2nd time today. First time I had 265 questions and this time I had 265 questions! I knew I failed the 2nd time based on the level of difficulty of question 265. I did the pearsonvue trick and sure enough I failed AGAIN:crying2: I'm devastated, and just so unsure what to do from here:( I know that I mustttttt not give up and take this test again!!
Can anyone give me any insight, and suggestions on what I can do? Helpful books, courses. Motivational stories to help me keep my head high?
I keep thinking to myself, I almost passed... so what the heck am I doing wrong that this has happened twice?

Sorry to hear this. I can give you some hope by saying, that I read a post here once that said a girl that actually passed got the "BAD" pop up. So wait until your final results before you get too down. 2nd many people have passed with 265 questions. If by chance you did not pass, the 3rd time will be a charm. I havent taken the NCLEX yet, but I am using the following 4 books which several people on this site have recommended:
1. LaCharity (Prioritization, Delegation and Assignment)
2. Saunders Comprehensive Review (for content purposes only)
3. Exam Cram (the CD is great, has a sim test that actually shuts off randomly and tells you where you are)
4. Kaplan strategy book (the rationales are excellent in this book)
MUCH LUCK TO YOU, I WISH YOU MUCH SUCCESS!

Assuming your official results confirm failure, just get the bad feelings out of your system, and get at it again. You will pass as long as you keep trying.

i agree with mekblizz posting...the books i used are listed there. I also focused on application and analysis questions...but the funny thing was i focused so much on that when i almost forgot how to answer other types of questions. but since they tell you that nclex is application and analysis i would focus on praticing those types ques using the Kaplan rational and any other rational you can find to answer questions. I just said a prayer for you. and others who are about to take this exam.

You gotta stop thinking about the failed exams and focus on the upcoming exam. I used saunders, nclex 3000(online), and kaplan(online ques). I essentially did thousands of practice questions becuase I think learning how to answer questions/weeding out the bad ones is more important than knowing all the info(which feels impossible). Practice, practice, practice.....If you have the $$ take the kaplan or hesi NCLEX practice course; I believe they guarentee a passing score or money back.

just wait for your official results. but if did not make it, move on. I also failed twice and got 265 questions. but it is not the end of the world. we will just pray that god will give us strength to move on and take out the depressions we have. and start studying once again. Good Luck to all of us and we will make it the next time.

Well I agree also with MekBliss post because I used those books as well. If you did fail, look at where your weak points were and try to focus on those.
Well for me I made a study plan, every week I would review a certain system/topic and do questions and rationales on them. Then after I have studied all the material for the week I would review the material to make sure I understood the general concept.
I didn't even schedule the exam until I was confident enough to know that I knew the material inside and out.
Also, if you tend to get panicky and such, like for me I panic, take those erasable white boards they give you and write out your answers and/thoughts about the question. For me, this allowed me to slow down and think about the question fully and slowly instead of rushing through the exam.
And just keep going, if you get down go on this website and get advice and use this website as support. I know if weren't for this site, I wouldn't have been able to get through failing the exam the first time.
Hope this helps :) and good luck
