hey everyone one i passed...... with 75 questions.. i never thought i would.... here is what i did.... i 100% beleive that this is not a test you can study for in less than 45 days.... it took me exactly 67 days to get ready.....
i did use saunders...although i thought none of my questions even looked like saunders but it was good for background info.....
what i did make sound crazy but some how it worked for me....we had a lady from kaplan come to our graduating class and tell us how to study with 100 questions a day but knowing me that i was not a A student i knew that was not going to be enough for me to learn.....
i always felt like i never knew as much as the other students in my class in lecture of clinical so i would have to study twice as hard to get ahead....it's kind of hard for me to catch up with 2 kids ( 8 and 2)
ok...
so i did 150 questions a day now i know some people would say that i too much but i am one of those people who can't sleep knowing i had studying to do.....anyway when that was done i review each and every rational regardless if i got it right or wrong...ok so i finished the book and moved onto the cd...did the same thing....overall i must have did questions, review rationals and then read some content for at least 5 hours a day....which didn't seem like much to me because i used to sit in lecture 6 hours....
before i did the cd i did the assessment test and i got a 58....i was very upset..but two days before i took the test i did it again an got a 78....they give you different questions so i felt like i was really learning something..
then when book and cd was done....i did kaplan cd and book which was still good but they really don't have that many questions....
when that was done...i went back to saunders and did the questions in the chapters that i got lower than a 50..which to me meant if it was lower i didn't even understand 50 % of the material...took the test again and if it was less than 75% i went back and review the content in the book....believe me even after all of those questions i was still getting many scores less than 75%....
but i sat there and review....i would stronly recommend studying content not just questions....yes questions are good but i feel you need to at least know the progression of a certain disease not just the one part the question askes you on....
total i did 8000 questions...crazy yes......did i pass yes......
just my thoughts on the nclex....
happy studying
