how to pass CPNE?

Published

I have been A LPN working for acute care for 9 yrs now, now I plan to take LPN to ADN program in excelsior, the most trouble is CPNE, I want to ask: if I don't care how much money I need for workshop, I will practise for months, by all means, do u think I can pass CPNE?

I'd recommend Sheri Taylor's workshop hands done! It's doable on your own, but with over 2k riding on the line I felt is was worth it to get first hand knowledge from her staff regarding the ins and outs. She has a high 1st time testers pass rate.

Specializes in Med-Surg, OR, ICU.

You must be able to keep your nerves under control. You can know how to do everything perfectly and one small mistake due to nervousness can cause one to make a critical error. I think the most important thing is confidence, knowing exactly how they want things done, and performing it under pressure. A workshop can teach you the skills and such but it truly relies on the individual to prove competence. I passed CPNE on first try using only the study guide Excelsior provides. Everyone learns differently so it's per individual basis on which is the right route to take to prepare.

This.

You can be the best prepared and have your skills down pat, but if you let your nerves get to your you can be in a lot of trouble.

I used the CPNE study Guide and RobsCPNE.com and passed the first time. Knowing what to expect really helps with nerves since that is one less thing to worry about.

Which one is better Robscpne or Sherri Taylor? How much does it cost? What's their location?

I can't say which is better. I only did RobsCPNE. It was $90 when I did it and worked for me. Many complain that the info is dated (the original stuff is, but he updates the changes for each revision), same say the video quality is poor (it is, but is good enough to see what needs to be done) and some say it is just worthless (any maybe it was to them). I found his mnemonics to be invaluable and his basic K.I.S.S. advise to be spot on. He teaches you how to do only what is required to pass, nothing more.

I have heard both good and bad about Sherri Taylor (mostly good), but I know costs more than $90, but you do get more with the cost (personal care plan evaluations is a big one for many, but Excelsior offers that for free).

Theres cpne bootcamp too which is the one i plan on doing when I get there. They have smaler classes and i can stay with my aunt cause she lives near miami

I did Sheri Taylor's online cpne workshop. Totally worth it's! I didn't have the money to travel for the workshop but I found that the online version was amazing. It wa just someone holding a camera filming the in person workshop. I could just as easily listen and take notes from the comfort of my home as sitting there and doing it. A lot of people do her in person workshop and online together. Not sure how much it is in person, but the online videos are under 150. Can't remember he exact price. But the 150 gives u unlimited access to all the videos for 30 days. For another 30 days of course is another 150. I only had to pay it once and studied about 3 weeks and passed the cpne with flying colors. I couldn't have done it without Those videos. She gives u a ton of practice care plans and you send them to her and she will grade them and tell you what you need to change. I felt pretty strong as far as the hands on nursing skills already, so I benefited from just the online. Depending on your medical background, the in person workshop would be good too. But once I memorized her mnemonics and it finally all clicked about how simple care plans were, I went into the cpne very confident. I actually did not pass the cpne when I took it before. But this was my own fault. I skimmed over the study guide and thought it was just testing my hands on nursing skills. Wrong. This test is a game. It's all about playing their game and memorizing how they want you to do everything. If I had done the online workshop the first time I would have easily passed! Unfortunately I learned that lesson the hard way. I don't know much about robs cpne but I know a lot of students use that as well and have been successful. Either way good luck and you can do it!!
