Orientation....

hi guys, i just wondering if you get paid during Orientation? and does it mean that you are hired already? :)

They are having you orientate and they haven't told you if you are hired yet!? Something is rotten in the State of Denmark.

If they have you working, they better pay you. Slavery went out with the 13th amendment.

I'm not trying to be rude, but is this your first job (not just as a nurse, but period)? Usually when you have orientation it is paid. Some places will pay you at the rate of your hourly wage (for example : $20/hr). Others will pay you about half your hourly wage. You usually do a day or two of just watching videos, filling out paperwork,etc..then a few days (or weeks, depending on what kind of facility you're working in) of orientation on the floor.

When I was 17 years old and working at McDonald's, I was paid during my few shifts of orientation.

I worked at Wienerschnitzel, Target, 99 Cent Only, temp agencies, two different grocery stores, and two different group homes while in my late teens and early 20s. Every workplace has paid me for orientation.

I worked at a paper products factory for three years. They oriented me for three months. Yes, I was paid for orientation.

I have been in nursing for 6 years and the same pattern still rings true: they pay me for every single minute that I am being oriented to the facility. By the way, workplaces provide orientations only to people that they have already hired.

Yeah. Orientation means you're hired. And yes they pay you, why wouldn't they.
