Are circulators allowed to have beard in the OR if they are kept neatly trimmed?

I think it is really gross that any medical professional in the OR has facial hair thats my 2 cents .

Wow, that's a little harsh. Should we shave our arms and eyebrows too?

Beards are alllowed in our OR's as long as they are fully covered. We have a disposable hood with long ties that wrap around. If these are worn with a hat and mask the beard is fully covered.

A man with a beard is no more gross than a woman with long hair. As long as it is covered, it's fine.

That's hideous

I've seen someone do that!!! The hospital that I did clinicals in had beard covers not to attractive but they did the job...why would a beard be nasty? Hair is Hair face, arms, head, legs, back,....that was just harsh!

everybody is entitled to there opinion ... facial hair should be well kept some examples I have seen in some situations were a little over the top.

gotya!

Beards are fine as long as they are covered! We have a special head cover for OR staff with exceptional facial hair... It covers the head and ties under the chin and resembles a knight's headpiece. Side note- I know a doctor who required that his nurses wear full pantyhose under their uniforms (back when nurses wore skirts) to prevent contamination from "lady partsl fall-out" haha
