I just recently interviewed for a home health position and was offered the job. A few days after the interview I found out that I am pregnant. The job has a lengthy training process and by the time I would be done with it I would probably be going out on maternity leave, so I decided to tell the lady who offered me the job that I am pregnant, just to be fair ( I should have kept my mouth shut). Anyway when I called to tell her, I ended up talking to her assistant and the assistant said that either she or the hiring lady would call me back. So 2 days later I have a message from the hiring manager saying, "Looking forward to seeing you at orientation, I do want to chat with you". So I call her back and leave a message with times I can be reached as I am currently working at a hospital day/evenings. I have been waiting to talk to her before I put my notice in at my current job. So no call back for a couple of days, so I call and leave her another message. Still no call back, so I email her explaining that I am waiting to hear from her to put in my notice, still no response?? So my husband thinks I should go there and ask to talk to someone in HR because I am getting no call backs. I do not think that is appropriate. I think she is not calling me back for a reason, like she doesn't want to hire me now because I am pregnant and she can't exactly take back an offer??? What so you all think? Maybe I am just being paranoid.....

If I went there, it wouldn't seem stalkerish? My husband says it just shows persistance.......

The Pregnancy Discrimination Act is an amendment to Title VII of the Civil Rights Act of 1964. Discrimination on the basis of pregnancy, childbirth or related medical conditions constitutes unlawful sex discrimination under Title VII. Women affected by pregnancy or related conditions must be treated in the same manner as other applicants or employees with similar abilities or limitations.
You were offered the job. They better have a damned good reason for revoking that offer--- and it better have nothing to do with your pregnancy--- else they are in violation of Federal law
I thought that there was a law about it, that is why I am thinking that she is not calling me back, as her way of making me go away? Like I said maybe I am just paranoid or something.
Even if she's doing that, I'd think it would be illegal. You said she offered you the job. If I were you, I'd simply ask the company when and where you are to start your orientation.

I'd go to the office and speak with someone. Don't assume they're trying to get rid of you, just go find out for yourself. Good luck.

HH agencies are desperate for good help esp those who have M/S experience. I doubt your pregnancy would be an issue unless you said you weren't coming back after the baby. Showing up to talk to them shows that you care about your new position, it shows initiative, not a problem with it whatsoever. Don't be timid.
Just wanted to let you all know that I decided to try calling her again before I drove over there and she finally answered! And yes I have the job and start Sept 10! Thank you all for listening!
