Hi fellow struggling students,
I was in AAS/ADN program in NYC and this past semester I failed out of the program. I would have graduated in Dec 2006. Is anyone aware of distance learning program which would allow me to continue my education and fulfill my dream of becoming a nurse. If there is no AAS/ADN are there any LPN programs which would accept my credits which I have completed without having to redo all of my classes. Thanks for info.
Many of us who would be very good nurses becuase we care about people and given another chance would definitely appreciate it very much to achieve our dream.
Thanks.

I'm sorry things didn't work out for you in your current program. The only online ASN program I know of is Deaconess. Their website is at http://www.deaconess.edu and has all the basic information. You have to arrange your own clinicals locally and then travel to Missouri once each semester to be tested on what you've learned. The program is accredited.
Every school is different about what transfer courses they will accept so it's hard to say who will and won't take the classes you've already done. Many schools will do an informal assessment of your transcript upon request and let you know what classes will transfer into their program.
Good luck, I hope you are able to find an alternative route to your nursing goal that works for you!

Check with Excelsior. I think I seen something in their curriculum about accepting students that have completed atleast 50% of their nursing classes. Not totally sure, but it is worth looking into.

I don't think this applies if a person failed out of nursing school.

Yeah, I'm pretty sure you have to have completed 50% of the program with passing grades.
Hi to all those who replied to my post,
I appreciate time taken to reply to my plea for info and help. Recently I called several schools In upstate NY. One of the schools Director of Nursing called me and left a message for me to email her about questions I have. I will pursue this since their Fall 06 program is not closed as yet. I hope she accepts at least my first year of nursing classes.
Just wanted to say special thanks to NC RN 2B, Motorcycle mama, and Mentalhealthman for replying.:thankya:

so does this apply if you have completed MORE than 50% WITH passing grades? but then failed in the 5th term?
I got a 4.0 GPA last term, but just got tossed out of clinicals in the 5th term of 6 terms?
Do you know if the Oregon BON allows excelsior grads to sit for NCLEX??
Hi traveler2bee,
I am sorry I do not have the info you're seeking. I have just about given up on pursuing this path because of the many negative responses I have received. I am currently pursuing business and I am seeing positive results.
I do not know where you're from but there is a school in NJ that offers Nursing program in January. You do the program online and travel once per week. At the moment I cannot remember the name of the school but I will check it out for you later. Bye

I wanted you to know you would be surprised how many people fail out of nursing school. It happened to me. In December, 2007 I was having difficulty passing my tests in my last semeter. I did not make it. At the time, I did not know what my next move would be. I did some research and realized Excelsior would be my best option. You do know you could try it also. You completed at least 50% of your nursing courses. As long as it is within 5 years since you were in nursing school. Don't give up your dream of becoming an RN. You can do it.

So did excelsior accept you, with your failed course:confused: I'm just curious because I get a lot of former-failed students asking me advise on this very subject.
so are you currently attending Excelsior? they let you in even though you failed out of nursing school? thats my big question right now.
thanks.
