I am currently working on a careplan. My pt has pancreatitis and the only scheduled med is Lovenox. How would this med be helpful for this condition? Thanks!!!

i was looking into this last night and couldn't find anything. i have had experiences where a pt is on a drug that they do not have a condition for, and found that if the condition is controlled it won't be listed in their current admission chart.
let me know what you find out!

Looking at Epocrates, it looks like this drug is used as dvt prophylaxis pre-abdominal surgery. Could this be it perhaps?

The nurses and students here are generally very helpful. However, some sort of evidence that you have worked on your homework before asking questions is going to get you a lot more assistance than simply posting your homework. What have you done so far? What do you know about pancreatitis? What do you know about Lovenox? etc. etc.

Lovenox is a common med for pts on the med-surg floor and anyone on bedrest. Don't assume that everything has to do with the medical diagnosis. I'll let you take it from there to figure out what it's for...
