The most important thing is to be yourself... relax, take a list of questions you want answering, and make the most of it - please come back and let us know how you get on...

i agree. be yourself, have your documents organised and although not necessary formulate questions you want answered.
good luck

Dress as you would for a job interview but comfortable as sometimes dependant on the area the interview may involve writing an essay.
Find out as much as you can about the course you are applying for.
Read around present issues in the area of Nursing you are applying ( Not just Agenda for Change, the is more going on ) a recent Nursing Times/Standard would do.
Have a list of questions, write them down. I have even taking a blank piece of paper in a informed the interviewers that they have answered all my questions.
During the interview listen to what the interviewer is asking, if your not sure get them to repeat it, they will usually re-phrase it making it clearer to understand. (don't do this on every question), think about what you are going to say, do just blurt it out.
Smile now and again:) .
and good luck

Good luck with the interview. Where have you applied to?
Some places will have a group interview, & will want to see how you communicate, so make sure you say something but don't take over the whole interview.
Make sure you take your certificates as they usually want to see them.
If you have any questions about the diploma feel free to ask I'm a 3rd year student.

get a copy of nursing times and have a good look through, usually has plenty of good topics.
You could pick anything as a health topic, but I would avoid talking about MRSA or C-diff as I'm sure there are going to be others talking about that as it's in the news at the moment. What about something like cancer? Did they tell you what context you need to be looking at the health topic? The essay's are the worst thing, they are just looking mainly to see if you can write in sentences & you want to do the course. I take it this is not the same as your personal statement. When have you got your interview.
hi my interiew is in 3 weeks and i feel so foolish asking you all for so much advice but when i ask myself why do i want to be a adult nurse i cant even answer-my brain seems to be constantly blank.if i'd been asked pre interview date i could have talked for hours now nothing please help
The standard stuff is always a good start, caring person, like to make a difference, like people.
A lot of essay i read speak about an experience either as a patient or visting someone in Hospital and of how inspired they were.
Consider the attributes you would associate with a nurse and discuss how you meet these.
Do you have friends who are nurses ask them, I remeber reading a post on this site where people wrote bout why they became a nurse, maybe you can a look for this post.
Oreo 75 advise is very good, they are looking at your sentance constuction etc more than the content.
Hope these notes are helpful
Mike

Hi all,
I'm hoping to get into nursing too. I've not got news of an interview yet...but fingers crossed. I am bubbly, outgoing, caring, love to talk....and not afraid of hard work.
Just a few questions........
Do you still have time for partners and friends?
I will need a small part time job.....what do you suggest to fit around this?
I have never seen a dead body....how did you handle this at first?
How do you cope with cleaning up toilet and sickness etc?
How do you deal with your emotions when a patient you have been looking after dies?
Is 26 too old to start the course??
I really don't think those things would bother me, but I suppose you won't know till you do it!! sorry if they seem silly too, but this is a huge decision for me and i want to make sure it's the right job for me. :-))
Thanks
