Nursing courtesy

I work in a LTC/rehab on nights Monday through Friday. They have weekend staffing that dose not work during the week usually. So the nurse that relieved me I will not see until next week. The problem I just woke up this afternoon and realize I forgot to change the trash on my med cart. I feel really bad because I try to be courteous to the nurse that follows me and get as much done as I can for them. Would it be appropriate for me to call and apologize, or should I let it go and just say something next week?

Let it go. I'd think a nurse was a bit odd if she called from home just to apologize for not emptying the trash on the med cart.

While it's nice that you're this conscientious....honestly I'd be a little concerned about a nurse that called me at home (or at work while SHE was at home) to apologize for something this inconsequential.

Like Brandon said, let it go and you're not likely to have it crop up again anyway :)

I agree with Brandon. If this nurse takes over from you often, s/he already knows your habits and whether you usually leave a clean workspace ready to go. If this one time that was different, s/he probably assumed you got super busy and it's a one time thing, changed the trash, and moved on. It's likely forgotten already.

My bolding. And then I'd be thinking 'is this person a stalker?'.

Just apologize humbly next time you see her.

You forgot to change the garbage bag, not a big deal. Just say something next time you work see each other.
