Does your facility have a policy on tattoos? Where I work the policy states that you can't have any tattoos visible that are "offensive". That's kind of vague wording to me lol. I have a small set of cherries on the back of my neck and no one has said anything so I guess that's not offensive.
I also got a new tattoo this weekend. Here's a pic. I just had it done yesterday (it's my graduation/new job present to myself :redbeathe ). I had about 3 hours worth of work done and still have about 1-2 hours left. It's on my right calf which isn't visible at all at work which is good because I could see how someone might be offended by it even though I think it's beautiful :redpinkhe

I'm glad you like it. When it heals and doesn't have goo on it, maybe you could take another picture so we could see what's in the middle where the light spot is.
I just got my second one yesterday, little flowers in a wristband. It'll be a very easy thing to cover, and very pretty to show off. Congratulations on graduation and the new job!

Very well done, I think the tattoo looks fantastic, and If I plucked up enough courage I would get one myself:yeah:.
Yeah, it's still really goopy lol. That spot, she is holding the handkercheif up to her chest. I'll post some more pics when I get it all finished, which is in a few weeks.

Oh Nelly!!! LOL!
It's not the art of tattooing. I love tats, have several that cannot be seen when in my professional uniform.
What some people (nurses esp.) may have a problem with is that your new tat (which is beautifully inked) perpetuates the myth that some nurses have been railing against for years. "Nurses are playthings..sex objects and not to be taken seriously"
I think you might get more heat for that than whether or not it is visible at work.:chair:

I love it! I think whom ever did your tat did a great job! I have seen a similar pinup to that before. I to have tats, mine also cannot be seen when in uniform. I have a tribal butterfly on my right calf and 3 large pink stars on my left foot. I have been considering getting a nursing tat of some sort when I graduate. Congrats on graduation and an awesome tat!

Honestly, I highly doubt that. No one is concerned with that mentality here. It's funny because all through school my class went to a bar that served a beer called The Naughty Nurse. LOL We'd always order a round!
Thanks! The picture is a classic Bettie Page shot (not sure if people here know who she is or not). My artist added some things, like the legs and stool. She did such a good job!
Did the foot hurt? I've been thinking of getting one there.

I love it!!
I have been trying to get my hubby to get a pin up of a nurse with red hair. (That is my hair color).
I have another kind tat in mind for me but I love pin up tats.

Our hosptial just has a rule against visable ones, even though one of our RN's just got her 12th one which has RN with the cadeuces (sp?) between the R and the N. It's nice, but with her hair always up in ponytails, it's hardly ever concealed. I just hope she doesn't get flagged for it later. ALl of my tats (only 3) are on my feet - very easily covered but very commented on when I wear sandals.

It's a beautiful tattoo and very nicely done. IN MY HUMBLE OPINION, I have a problem with nurses being presented as sex kittens, so I'd not get one like it for myself but it is beautiful tattoo, in itself.
I have 3 tattoos, none of which are visible (except one tends to peek out of the edge of socks as it is around my inner left ankle). My hospital does have a policy but it is not strictly enforced. I'm a nurse manager and one of my staff nurses has a bouquet of roses on her forearm. Technically, I should make her cover it up but I don't.
