Hi all, I am finishing up my BScN and plan on pursuing an MScN to become an NP after. Does anyone know of schools either in Canada or the US (if the States, on-line or close to Ontario if not) that don't require previous work experience as an RN? I looked into some schools in Canada but they require 2-3 years of experience as an RN.

I think all in Canada will require nursing experience and that is probably a good thing

How effective of an NP would you be with no nursing experience?
Canadian programs require experience .

I think it's wiser for me to start an NP program right away if I can, mostly because the pharmacology/pathophysiology I learned is still fresh in my mind. Also, I plan on pursuing it part-time while working full time, so I'll attain experience as an RN anyway.

NP in Canada was created to provide medical care in remote areas. I used to work with an NP who had decades of experience San an RN before she advanced. She'd worked in nursing stations in the arctic. The only healthcare provider for many days travel. I'd have trusted her with my life.
