I am not applying for it only because I am ready to start NUR classes right now, and people who get in to the one beginning this fall don't start actual NUR classes until next summer, because the first two semesters are full of general education requirements. So for me and many others it is a total waste of time, since most of us have already taken all or most of that stuff.

GMU has an accelerated RN to BSN program, so the Momentum 2+1 program isn't totally necessary.

I'm not in the program, but took NAS 161 with Momentum students. Some liked it but most hated the fact that they couldn't pick their schedule. If you had to work, or know that the professor wasn't all that great, or the time just didn't work. You just had to deal with it. If you didn't like it, then they basically showed you the door.

Like Future said, you can do the Accelerated or traditional and then transfer over to Mason yourself. So either way Momentum, or accelerated is 3 years towards a BSN (including pre-reqs for Accelerated) and if you go for the traditional it's 4 years.

Momentum 2+1 is a new program. I would like to see how students wil survive taking nursing classes AND general ones. I am in Traditional and I am reading day and night to keep up. I like the idea of BSN in three years and cheaper. Is it possible? I really don't know.

Is it cheaper?? Many hospitals pay for education, so one can get their BSN paid by the hospital, maybe not the whole amt, but a good junk! No clue on the 2+1 schedule, but I would think they would be taking many of the classes prior to the actual Nursing classes. And I believe NVCC nursing students do get priority into George mason (Or is it another school) to continue onto their BSN, I belive one has to have a certain GPA. I shall worry about that down the road, like a few years! I don't plan to finish this program on May 4th,lol and rush into a BSN program,lol

The Edelman Scholarship will pay for 100% if you're in the accelerated program.

NVCC students do not get priority into GMU. It's all about GPA. You may be thinking of the program where you are guaranteed admission into a Virginia state school if you earn an associates at NVCC. This exists but does not guarantee you a spot into any specific department.

What is the Edelman Scholarship? I have searched for it but cant find anything related.

I am also seriously considering Momentum 2+1. To any of you who are in the program or have completed it..... Im wondering how difficult it is and do you have to be an A student to succeed and qualify for the transfer to Mason? Also - was it easy to be accepted onto the program? Was there a waiting list?

I have also heard some people say that in regards to employment after the progrm, employers would rather have people who have done the traditional RN programs as opposed to the accelerated programs like Momentum. Can anyone shed some light onto this? do you think its true?
