Curious to see how you all out there have your pump settings for Nitroglycerin drips - what's the concentration of your Nitro bottles? Do you use mcg/min or mcg/kg/min...??? What about low or high dose Nitro use in your setting?
Thanks!

We titrate mcg/minute. 500mg/250ml is our concentration.

I mix 25 mg in 250 ml. I run in mcg/min. With said concentration, 5 mcg/min is 3 ml/hour. I titrate in 5-10 mcg/min increments until reaching desired effect or I start looking at other options. I've gone up to 100 mcg/min or so and would go higher if need be. However, at that point I am considering other/additional modalities.

The above- though I've never gone over 65. At that point the MD said try something else- it's prabably not cardiac. (oops, wrong call doc... pt transfered in the am for stents)
Our pumps are programed mcg/min. What does weight have to do with it? Nitro is titrated based on BP and pain.
No, because weight is not a factor with nitro.
We titrate heparin based on weight, but not nitro.

Whoops! Typo! It's 50mg not 500mg.
