new to this

Hello everyone. Glad to be here. I have been an LPN for 25 yrs and have decided to go on for my RN FINALLY.. I started it in NY but moved to NC 3 yrs ago before I could finish it. I did my prereq's and started the transition program but had to move a month into that. So here I am. I decided to do the online course of Excelsior. I am not able to do classroom due to no evening classes are available in my area. I work Mon-Fri days. I am ready, willing, and able (with a great support system at home). So here I go. I was told by someone, they give you the study guides and you study them then when your ready you take the test. Can anyone confirm that? Thanks for your support in these forums!!

OK, so now I'm already confused! Since I got my LPN license in July 2003 does that mean I will have to take NC2 - I thought I read somewhere that it couldn't be longer than 5 years.....

Also, I'm taking most, if not all, pre-reqs through them, too (for a bunch of reasons....). Has anyone else done that?

I don't recall that being the case ... I'm pretty sure there are a lot of long-time LPNs who were able to waive that exam. I'm a paramedic, so I had to take NC2 (now called Essentials of Nursing Care: Health Differences). It wasn't bad, actually!

It has nothing to do with when you became an LPN but when you enrolled with EC.

NO ONE takes NC 2 unless they enrolled before a certain date. You will be exempt for the second exam, which, under the new curriculum, has a different name.
