New grad having a difficult time finding a job

Hi Everyone! I'm a new grad in Brandon, FL (graduated in Dec '15 from HCC) and I'm having a hard time finding a job. I have had 4 interviews with several hospitals in the area and I have gotten back emails saying they went with a different candidate. I REALLY need a job and I'm just trying to get a foot in the door anywhere but I have no idea where to go now. Any advice for the new graduate?? :)

You might have to widen your scope. What about long term care, LTACHs, offices? Hospitals further away?

which department or area did you apply in?

i also agree that you might have to apply in another city. I know new nurses who made sacrifices by finding job in another city much further away. Once you have experience, it gets easier, and you can apply back in your city

Yes, I have applied to hospitals a little further out but I am looking into rehab facilities also....

I applied to the Neuro floor and the others were med-surg. I really don't have any specialty right now because all I want is some experience.....

Thanks!

I'll start looking further away....

There's a few new grad programs in and around Brandon. Did you apply at all of them?

Yes I have and they all have the requirement of being only 6 months from graduation... and I'm going on 9-10 months. So I don't qualify for those.

Look at nurse residency programs for graduate nurses (new nurses), there are a few hospitals in Tampa that have them. As long as you have less than a year of nursing experience, you are eligible.
