Net Exam!!!

Nursing Students Pre-Nursing

I got my NET results yesterday!!! I did pretty well. I got a 78 composite score. I think that it good. I don't know how other people have done on the exam, but I am pleased.

Does anyone know if that is a good NET Score?

What is a NET exam (I asked this in another forum but am waiting for a reply)? What types of questions did they ask?

NET is an acronym that stands for Nursing Entrance Test; it is used by some schools as an admissions requirement. NET consists of questions covering critical thinking e.g., inferential reading, main idea of passage and predicting outcomes. Also, it covers math skills e.g., algebra, decimal, fraction, number system conversions, percentage operations. The critical thinking and math skills sections are used for admission criteria, but the test will provide other information not related to admission requirements i.e., reading rate, stress level profile, learning style, etc. According to my NET score sheet, the North American Average Score is a 56, but my school requires a 65.

I do believe your composite score is good especially in comparison to national averages, however, the schools you apply to will depend on whether or not your scores are considered competitive.

In some cases I think the test is just a marker to identify people who may struggle with nursing courses, but I could be wrong.

Best wishes to you! :nuke:

Here's a website you can check out for a sample NET test:

I'm taking it this Saturday.

Another good site is the company that actually makes the NET and that is ERI. I took their sample NET and it was EXACTLY like the NET I took...like scary similar.

I took the NET this Monday and passed. I got a 97 in math and 64 in reading(I did not study for this part at all). My school requires minimum of 60%. I got an overall composite of 81.

The math seemed relatively easier than I thought. The reading was just not very straight forward and a little confusing. These are the only 2 portions that are "considered" but the additional sections on grammar and A&P, Bio , Chem must be looked at or let's face it they wouldn't be on there.

All in all it was okay and I only took it once. This is a small part of the "points system" used at my school.

And now I wait.............................................til mid to late April. :banghead:

Hope everyone does well.

Was the science portion in a section by itself or a part of another section i.e. learning ability?! I have seen some have science on their NET and others don't. It's so frustrating. Was it just 10 questions?! I wish they would include a review in the book for the science as well.

Congarts to all of you who passed!!

The only academic areas I had on my NET were the reading and math sections. I think there were 33 reading questions. There were 60 math questions (you get 60 minutes for the math section). I didn't have any science areas at all.

I found this to be true as well. When I did the practice reading and math tests, it was just the opposite

I scored a 94 composite (86 reading and 100 math I think). I also found the reading quite tricky. I studied a ton for it (from the online sample test and the practice book - both from ERI) and I still found it difficult.

I took the NLN last year so I practiced my reading a lot. I always read the question first and that helped me tremendously. I think I'll do better in the math as well.
