i need 2 more classes...any suggestions?

Hey...i'm on the waiting list for the LVN program at my local community college. I plan to move on to be an RN too. But i need to take a full load in order to have my parent's insurance company to cover me. I am already enrolled in Nutritions and a chemistry course. I'm currently working as a CNA at a retirement home, but i already took A&PI and II, micro, bio....so are there any other classes i can take related to pre nursing?

If you're planning to eventually become an RN you can always take Math (esp. statistics). All the programs I've looked at for BSNs require it. Even if you're not interested in getting your BSN those courses will come in handy during LVN school.

I finished all my pre-reqs for the ADN program I want to get into last semester, but I'm taking Chem this semester 'cause I think it will help me later.

Or, you can always take a class that's totally diferent and cool that you may not otherwise ever have time to fit in your schedule. Try sculpture, painting, philisophy, medieval literature...who knows, you may find a new hobby that will give you something else to talk about other than Nursing School. :thnkg:

Specializes in MICU - CCRN, IR, Vascular Surgery.

You can't go wrong with language classes. Spanish, or whatever is big in your area or sign language also!

Specializes in OR, Telemetry, PCCU, Med/Surg.

Spanish for healthcare workers, medical terminology, math, ethics, human development, child development if you're interested in peds.

Just some ideas. :) Good luck!

Specializes in Psychiatric Mental Health.

You can take Sociology, Speech electives, Pharmacology, and any nursing electives that doesn't yet require clinicals.

I have to agree. Being Bi-lingual will only help you when its time to get a job....brushing up on math is a good idea as well. Our school offers Critical thinking which I was told by my advisor is a good elective to take. A few more I can think of- sociology, womens studies, religion, and cultural studies.

i am taking my second semester of spanish and and first semester of american sign language. i have found that i absolutely love sign language and cannot believe that i didn't take it sooner, i can't wait to take more asl classes.

i have joined the deaf club on campus and have attended several events. we have a couple of deaf students in our class and one that is hard of hearing, we all go out to dinner together and on various outings to learn new signs amoung friends. my daughter is even learning with me and excited to go on all of the outings to learn new signs.

anyway, probably more than you wanted to know but think of something that you may have always be interested in and take it, it can only enrich your life.

Specializes in LTC.

Take a good medical terminology class. It will be very helpful when you are taking tests and especially during clinical when you are reading through charts and documenting. And it is also beneficial to be fluent in Spanish and algebra.:twocents:
