Need an agency!

My wife and I have applied to two companies, fast staff, and RN network. We are both wanting to work in California but both companies keep telling us they have jobs and "someone will call today" ....3 weeks later after calling the recruiter daily we have yet to get a call from a nurse manager. My wife has a specialty in MS tele with cardiac emphasis and I have SICU/MICU/NICU experience with 3.8 years experience. At this point we just want to get out there. Our house is in boxes, we sold our second car 3 weeks ago, and my boss has ruined my schedule due to "thinking" we were leaving a month ago and now we have tons of help on the unit. I just want a good recruiter/company who has jobs in CA. I wanted to stay away from American Mobile d/t horror stories I have read but are they really that bad? We want good housing/health insurance and a pet friendly spot. It seems the smaller companies keep telling us they can't get us placed together but i've read that its not impossible. Any help or advice will do. PVT messages with some info would be nice. I would love to have someone who can help us get through this. Any info is greatly appreciated.

on assignment was recently looking for 2 MS nurses in northern california for a 13 week assignment. It was on their facebook page.

I am with American Mobile and haven't had any problems with them at all. I know they get contracts in CA. I am on a unit that is basically all travelers and the majority of them are with American Mobile. I think the horror stories are few and far between, and that your recruiter makes a big difference. Mine is amazing, and I can pm you her info if you would like. Good luck!

Sent you a PM!

If you are not averse to a permanent relocation, look for regular job postings. Follow up on them to see if they are placing travelers or agency personnel. Often this is the case until a permanent employee can be found.

I would have to say to loook with other companies, AMN and CrossCountry are both listing ca openings but I am not fond of either, nothing bad but they don't pay as well. Flexcare I know is looking for people in cali. I know that MSN has openings as well. If you tell the 2 companies that you are looking with other companies, they will step it up. I am sure they don't want to loose you and if they don't step up, you don't want them anyway. :) Good luck!

I am also seeking a travel position in CA, preferably Southern. I have spoken with three companies, American Mobile being one of them and the Recruiter has been awesome. Sometimes takes a while to get back to me, but has been beyond gracious in answering all my questions. I also have heard nothing bad about American Mobile and one of the nurses I work with said she has worked with them for 3 years and has never had one problem. Everyone has a different opinion though. Thanks to whoever posted the other company names, time to network!!

Good suggestion to look at Facebook. Lots of companies have their own page. Some of the postings could be a way to snag you, but they're worth a look anyway. FB has a page called traveling medical professionals where travelers and recruiters post.
