Hello all,
I dont know if Im posting in the right spot but here it goes. I just graduated from nursing school and submitted an application to the BRN. At the time of my application I did not have anything to disclose, not even a speeding ticket. However right before graduation I did get a speeding ticket. It took several weeks to receive the letter and pay the ticket. My plan was to pay the ticket and send in documentation the BRN. I just recently received everything I needed from the court. In the meantime I did take my NCLEX and become licensed. I was on the board website today trying to find out where to send my documents when I read something about disclosing tickets etc IMMEDIATELY! Now Im afraid they will think I was purposefully not disclosing information. Im sick and don't know what to do?? Any advice??

IMO, the longer you wait to disclose, the more it'll look like you're purposefully not disclosing. Contact the BON and see what you need to do.

I don't think speeding tickets count. I've had three and never sent in any paperwork about them because I honestly didn't even think about it - and I got a multistate license right out of school and immediately applied for endorsement to another state, and I was approved both times and got my ATT to take the NCLEX at the same time as everyone else in my class. If either BON cared, I'm quite sure one or both of them would have said something at some point in the process. I really don't think a speeding ticket is something they care about at all.
So, with that being said, if your BON requires proof of speeding tickets I'm guessing they just want their bases covered? It's not going to be something they revoke your license over or anything like that. Just send the proof in whenever you get the chance and don't sweat it.

BONs vary wildly. My old BON couldn't give a rat's rear about speeding tickets as long as no DUI was involved; my current BON wants me to declare any traffic ticket that was over $300 regardless of what it was.
How much a BON may care about the ticket...IMO that's probably not something one would want to risk finding out about. It's likely not a revoke/suspension-worthy offense. However, given that there's another thread here where someone got into trouble with their BON over not reporting a dismissed charge (another thing my old BON never cared about either), you never know. As the OP stated her BON wanted these tickets reported immediately, they probably care a little.

where do you reside OP?
Thanks everyone for responding. Im still trying to contact to BRN Im just beside myself about this situation. I reside in CA.
Ah, my current BON. I've found that they're pretty quick to respond to e-mail.
If it's any consolation, I was in a similar situation. I had two speeding tickets from my old state of residence. Then I moved to CA. I didn't declare them when endorsing because I forgot about them...plus I didn't have to tell my first BON about them so I didn't even think of telling CA's BRN. I know better now.
I was living here for about 6 months before I had realized that I might have had to declare them and I could be in trouble. So I immediately contacted the CA BRN by e-mail (and yes, I confess to doing it anonymously as I often advise other posters to). Fortunately for me, neither ticket was over $300; therefore, the CA BRN said that they did not to be declared and I was fine. I saved a copy of that e-mail for my file. And now I use cruise control religiously.
But you're not going to know that until you talk to the BRN.
Best of luck.
I called and spoke to someone from the enforcement division at brn and was told to send in my documentation along with a letter. I was reassured (no promises) that if it was only a speeding ticket (no dui) it was highly unlikely to result in disciplinary action. Im praying I was given correct information, I guess only time will tell.

Wow. I just can't believe that a BON would concern themselves with a speeding ticket. Wow. Why?? Does anyone know? Seems so extreme to me.
Because if you drive fast enough it's considered reckless driving, which depending on your state and the specific circumstances can be a felony conviction.
Holy moly, I didn't know that. I would think if you were driving recklessly It would be more than a speeding ticket though, wouldn't it? I guess I can see where the other poster said anything in excess of 300--which would obviously be a very high speed, but I can't see having to report your typical "going 40 in a 35" type of ticket. Hmm. Good information to know.
You can get dinged with reckless just on speed alone. In VA, reckless driving is defined as going over 80 mph or going more than 35 mph over the posted limit.
