Need Advice/Help.. LOST :(

I am currently trying to obtain my Associates degree in Nursing at a community college and am working on my pre-requisistes and some other classes needed for degree. Thankfully, the only pre-reqs are BIO 201 and ENG 101. I however cannot find a spot in a BIO 201 class at all. The class size is 24 and I am number 28 on the wait-list, I will never get a spot. I have tried looking at online classes with Rio Salado maybe but I do not want to fail that class :(... (I took anatomy in high school and barely passed with a D, teacher expected us to memorize LARGE amounts of info and 100 question test day after) . I feel as if I am wasting my time for simply one class. What do I do? someone help me..!!! Thanks !

Try emailing the teacher/ talk to the dean, tell them how much it means to you tone able to sit for this class. I've tried this in the past and it works for me. If nursing is something you really want to do, do whatever it takes.

Stay on the waiting list. It is not uncommon to have 5-10 students move from the waiting list to having a spot in classes, as people's schedules change or they don't pay or whatever the case may be. My school instructed students on the wait list to go to the first day of class early and get a seat. When all was said and done it was then easy to have an instructor sign off on their spot in the class. Good luck!

Yes, I would definitely go and sit for the class on the first day. You have a very good chance to get in. My Physiology teacher purposely adds extra people from the wait list because she knows many people will end up dropping. I feel your frustration though! I was trying for 2 semesters to get into an Anatomy class and couldn't, so I ended up going to a neighboring school that didn't have as many students. Don't give up! Good luck, I hope it all works out for you!

Excellent point! Many people drop in the first two weeks. That is ridiculously common in pre-req classes.

Many people will drop. How many classes are available? When you consider that a few of each will likely drop, #28 may not be bad.

Definitely stay on the wait list, and talk to the teacher at the beginning of the semester/first day of class. In my experience, if you go to the first day of class (instead of waiting to be off the waiting list) and talk to the teacher, they will usually sign a form allowing you to enter the class.

I agree that a lot of people drop after they see the syllabus on the first day of class ^_^ also, I'm having to take pre reqs at 2 different colleges right now. Maybe you could enroll at another school for that class
