NCLEX woos

hi guys,i've finally decided to register in this forum so that i'll be able to address my queries to those who are already, somehow, knowledgeable bout NCLEX.:yeah:

i graduated last 2008 and passed NLE respectively, i'm planning to start my application by monday next week to an application center named NEAC(nursing exam application center) which is in situated beside kaplan in espana, manila. i'm planning to choose CA for my state but after reading some threads here, i felt doubtful on choosing it still, because of some usual problems encountered by many esp. SSN and etc and retrogression is still ongoing.:zzzzz:bluecry1::banghead:

can u guys suggest a state that is worry-free with all of these stuffs?:confused::confused::confused:

please help me to be enlightened so that i won't be wasting every :twocents:peso/dollar:twocents: that my father will be spending on me for this exam.hope to hear with you guys soon, coz i only have 2days more to decide for the "state-problem" i got.thanks a lot.:heartbeat:zzzzz:no:

You are not applying for NCLEX but to be a licensed RN in the US of which NCLEX is a part of that process. There are a few threads already discussing not applying to California and a majority apply to Vermont but things are changing all the time so you need to research the state BON's and decide which one to go for. Would also recommend not going for Florida unless you plan on working there initially as they have some new stuff going on. Regardless on state you will still have to meet foreign nurse requirements which may involve CES report from CGFNS and would recommend if you have to get CES done (course evaluation) then go for the full course by course as it will help in the future if you decide to go for further education

If you will apply to other states other than CA, then most likely that you will need a CGFNS service such the CES. And, other states require an Engish Exam like IELTS.

I know NEAC near Kaplan in St. Thomas square and I'm sure they can help, but for a fee of course. But, if you'll just follow the steps as maybe outlined on a state's website or the application forms, you will be fine. And also, if ever you apply for a CGFNS service, there's also an outlined steps on the forms that you can download. Plus, if you are enrolled in a review center, just like Kaplan, definitely they should be able to help you with the processes.

(my post may have some flaws, just try to read some on this forum, and seek the advice of the moderators)

I applied through Vermont - they do not require CES/fingerprints/work experience and I found them helpful and quick.

There is absolutely no reason to use an agency to assist with the paperwork for licensure. They are not doing it for free, but they will be charging a fee to you to do it. And if one has issues with trying to complete the paperwork, then what are you going to do once you get to the US?

And if this company is recommending CA to you as well, that should be another worry as well.

Definitely do not use any agency for services like this no matter which country.

hi iamnomad. i'm just afraid of committing mistakes with my application that's why i preferred to consult NEAC instead doing the process personally. im planning to review @ URC and they said hat they're willing to help me instead of leaving NEAC my application process, but i was just too hesitant abt that matter.:p

The paper work required is basic, if you need help re think about working in the USA. We deal daily with paper work and if you are struggling with the application without an agency I would take that as a sign.

hi ghillbert. how many working months approx. before receiving your eligibility?if and ever i passed in vermont, is the license given/provided asap?also, if i'll be able to find work in CA, all i need is the endorsement right?therefore it won't be too hard at all and cause so much problem?:confused:

If you have a Vermont License (with a SSN) you would be able to find a job in CA. Endorsements are not that hard. Ghilbert in not practicing in Vermont.

What is hard is getting a VISA and finding a job, expect a very very long wait, 5-7 years.

ah ok.so, if i got a vermont license and then wanted to go to CA, all that i need to have at that time is the SSN,is that it?i'm just afraid that if i got CA, i won't be able to have SSN asap because of retro that will just destroy my files in the end.

what if i planned to be endorsed to hawaii, is everything will be the same as above?:confused:

Hawaii requires that the CES be completed before they will look at your application.

You are looking at probably a wait of 7 years plus for a chance at a visa to work in the US. Things in CA are also extremely tight, finding an employer that will be willing to file for you and wait that long is also going to be hard to do.

Recommend that you take the time to do some reading on this forum and most definitely do all of the paperwork on your own, not with the help of any agency or company.

It took 4 months to get my VT eligibility. After I passed NCLEX, the license came quickly. I then endorsed to another state (but not CA).

As for CA, I believe they still have their own requirements for foreign nurses and may not just provide the license by endorsement without their own requirements.

There's a lot of people out there that can hep you with your application.

Surely, your review center can help you with that. The process is easy, as long as you read the guidelines / steps.

The agency is really helpful. But if you can do it yourself, you can save money.

Just trust the people on your review center that they can help you with your application. You can ask your reviewmates as well. And this helpful site, allnurses.com
