hi guys! my wife took the exam in australia yesterday ang she told me that the computer shutdown at 75. what do you about it? i mean some says that if the computer stops at 50 there is a posibility that the examinee will fail.. correct me if im wrong. some says if the computer stops at around 200 or more there is a big chance of passing the exam.
in my wife's case the computer shutdown at 75.
another question is how many days would it take for us to know the result of the exam?

minimum questions asked are 75 and max 265. Very hard to predict either way. If you check out the NCLEX forum there are threads from all ranges who pass or fail on any amount of questions.
Depends on the state to how long it takes to get results, some do participate in quick results but CA is not one of them and if your wife has done through them then it will take a few weeks to get the results as they are sent out snail mail if you haven't got a SSN.

And Anna gave you correct information. When the results are available is based on which state that your wife wrote the exam for. And passing is based on the level of the questions that she got in the exam, it has nothing to do with the number of questions that she got, or if she got the last question correct or not.
Can you be specific for which state, then we can tell you when she can get her results.

My understanding of the NCLEX scoring is this:
You will be asked at least 75 questions, but no more than 265 questions. The difficulty of the questions asked depends on whether you answered the previous questions correctly or not.
For example, if the first few questions are "average" difficulty, and you answer them incorrectly, the next questions will be easier. If you answered the "average" questions correctly, the next questions will be harder. So, the difficulty of the questions will sort of go up and down, depending on how you are doing.
After 75 questions, the computer will look at how you are doing---are you getting all the easy questions right, but missing all the average and difficult questions? Or are you getting almost all the difficult questions right, and maybe missing a few here and there? The computer will then make a decision: if you have answered enough average and difficult questions correctly, it will stop asking questions after 75, and you will pass. If you have done very poorly with the first 75 questions, it will also stop asking questions, and you will fail. So, basically, if the computer stops after 75 questions, you have either done very well, or very poorly.
If the computer continues to ask you questions, it means that the computer needs more information in order to make a decision. At that point, you are not doing well enough to pass, or poorly enough to fail.
It will continue to ask you questions until it feels it has sufficient information to decide whether you pass or fail. So, the computer may end the questioning any time between 75 and 265 questions, whenever it feels it has enough information about your performance.
Hope this helps!

I would say,
If your wife has not sure whether all her answer is right or wrong , but felt that she done ok, and finshed at 75, then she will pass!
Come on! Cheer up!

I remembered when I took NCLEX, it stopped at the 85th question.... I was so scared since I never heard someone stopped at 85!... My hubby asked me if I was 100% sure that my anwer on the 85th question is correct. And I said I am not 100% sure but 90%. and he said "you'll pass" since the computer has reached a decision....
Well, Good luck to you!

Sorry, but getting the last question correct does not influence whether the nurse passes the exam or not. And not even the number of questions. It focuses on the level of questions that are being answered. All nurses get 50% correct and 50% incorrect, the level of the questions that are answered correctly determines the pass or no pass.
thank you mam!she took the ohio state board exam
She actually wrote the NCLEX exam for the state of Ohio. There are no state boards anymore. If I remember correctly, Ohio partipates in early results from Pearson-Vue for $7.95. You can check their website to see if that is the case.
You will be better off checking the website of Ohio otherwise.
