so, there's this clinical instructor who scares the crap out of me she's a nightmare!!
on our duties, she does not allow us to sit for the whole shift.. [hello varicose veins!]she wants us beside our patient ALL the time.. then out of the blue, she'll call us one by one.. then you have to tell her all about your patient meds. ALL of it..i sucked at meds so she told me "you know, you're pretty.. but what are you going to do with your face in nursing school if you don't know crap? oh and by the way don't marry a nurse, marry a doctor" i was like what?? where did that come from??
she'll give us an ass. the main info about the patient, person's gordon approach, anatomy and physiology, pathophysiology, 3 ncp, drug study for all you patient's meds.. and then we have to pass it the following day after our duty.so no sleep for me :smilecoffeeIlovecof
and before our christmas break, she said she has a gift for us.. make ncp for 50 diseases hand written! to be submitted first day of school after the christmas holiday.. then she smiled.. saying hapy christmas everyone! this lady's driving me nuts!! christmas vacation is the only time we can relax.. and then this?? :hdvwl:
i also remembered.. it was my first time and im still learning about tons of stuff.. then my instructor called me.. then she said ok do postmortem on this room! then she left.. i was like, ok.. wait.. what's postmortem???!! we looked it up on the book and my groupmates ended up laughing! i was devastated!! idon't even freakin know what that word means and she wants me to do what?? :selfbonk:but what can i do.. a student's got to do what a students got to do.. some of the nurses helped me out when they saw me just standing beside the body looking dazed.. thank goodness :thankya:
i know, a lot of students are going through stuff like this.. just wanted to share bits of my wierd experience with this weird teacher.. she'll flip out over nothing and torture students.. arghh.. the things we put through for nsg. school.. [not all of my teachers are like her though.. ]

My instructor told us in clinical just yesterday, that she is tough on us because she wants us to function independently as nurses. I felt as if she tore down my confidence where she claims she's building me up. Not sure how that works but I cant wait to May gets here and school is OVER.

sending a green and scared nursing student in to do postmortem (when you didn't even know what it was!) was mean an cruel. AND it was very very disrespectful to the deceased patient. Postmortem care is not a punishment or a hazing ritual. Shame on her!
Shame on her for the other stuff too, especially the Christmas break homework. ugh she is terrible. Best wishes to you!

oh my gosh it's worse. I was in military and never got treated like some of the instructors where I am. Thankfully, I've had some good ones to counteract the bad ones - and I graduate this semester so I can't complain...almost done. Now the full time task of finding somewhere to hire a new grad! HA!

We have a couple that I wonder if they have a multiple personality disorder.
When they are in their good moods...they are amazing and you couldn't ask for any better.
However, they sometimes lose it over things that frankly, wouldn't bother most people...and unfortunately, completely overshadows the good times.

My instructor told the group last week that when you come to clinical, and she asks you a question you had better not say "I don't know". Saying I don't know is like saying "***** U", because if you can a ***** you'd know the answer".
interesting :thnkg:
thank you for sharing guys.. :igtsyt:

Every school has one. And it sucks. We had an instructor that would dismiss you from the floor if you did not have all facts down for your meds. Then you could not get your hours in, could not pass the semester...what a nightmare. She would also argue with the RN that I would work with and tell the RN her care was incorrect for the patient. Yeah, that is the way to work with staff.

OMG what was she thinking sending you in to do post mortem cares!!!!! Make sure you write that one up! I agree that was cruel and wrong. It sounds like she's nuts. It's one thing to not be sitting down unless your gathering your information, but she sounds like a fruit loop. Just get through it any way you can. You have my sympathy.
Every school has one.
i totally agree!!!
CHEVYV thank you!
