I’m 9 months in. Never missed a check in. Life got busy today. Let my guard down and accidentally missed my check in window by 16 mins.... ??‍♀️??‍♀️ I can’t believe I did that ... never missed on before, I’ve had no other infractions or issues ... any experience with this by anyone??? I hate feeling like the rest of my day is trashed as now I’m worried about being sent to TPAPN prison for being human and forgetful ... someone put my mind at ease please!!

It happened to me too. When I set a special on phone I would never miss there after. It sucks but on the very few times it ever happened it wasn’t used against me. Until I started using in the program in 2016...then it was used against me lol.

But really. It wasn’t the end of the world. Just try to be careful ?

If possible I would go to the lab and see if you could test. That way they can't say you missed on purpose because you used. Then send a email to your caseworker and let him/her know what happened.

In my entire 5 years, I missed exactly one check in. My habit was to set the alarm for 4am, wake up, check the phone, and either cuss and get up or roll over and go back to sleep for another hour. I never even noticed until the following day. My first thought was that their system glitched but more than likely, I pulled up the site, looked at it and never actually hit ‘check in’. Of course I got picked that very next day. I’m not sure that was coincidental (‘cause it’s random dontcha’ know) or because it was missed. I never heard a. Single. Thing. Not even a nastygram from the case manager.

i doubt they care much about 1. Its when it becomes frequent or a pattern that there is an issue. Whatever they spew about ‘accountability’ or ‘the next right thing’ or whatever other stuff that’s been lifted from 12 step methodology, I truly think has zero to do with this. These check ins to a faceless computer program are nothing more than a measure of control over people’s lives.

I would not fret, just be careful.

We are all human, and the board will understand that. It’s happen to me a few times, especially at the beginning. I have to submit an explanation as to why I missed check in and also steps that I’ve taking to prevent it. If it becomes a frequent thing, it will be a problem. Good luck!

I'm not in a monitoring program, but just wanted to say that you guys are amazing, because that system sounds horrible. I have so much respect for your commitment and perseverance.

They will excuse it but will be watching you closely from here out. The rule is to go test immediately after you have missed a check in. Expect an increase in testing. Download the app.

I’m a little late to your question, but yes. All of these answers are correct. Always email your case manager immediately with an explanation. The first check in I missed, I called mine in tears. She calmed my nerves and told me since it wasn’t a selection day, I was fine and to not make a habit of it. I’m near the end of my 5 years now. I’ve missed a few check ins over the course, and they were all on Saturday and Sunday. Very serious piece of advice......be vigilant going forward. During the final months of my program I have started being selected for tests on Saturdays and Sundays. My guess is because of the missed check ins on those days. Good luck to all. Keep fighting the fight ?

I was told by my program that if you miss a check in and you happened to have been selected to test that day... of course there is no way for us to know because affinity will disclose it. It’s better to self test as soon as we realize it because you may be asked to refrain from practice until you have a negative test result.

personally I have the notification alert on from the spectrum app that alerts me to check in.
