Middle Name?

I'm currently filling in my California BRN Application for Licensure and I have this teeny-weeny problem on what to write under this basic data that's being ask, "Middle Name"? :uhoh3: Yes, seriously.

I'm uncertain of what to put under the middle name box. Don't get me wrong, I do know what my middle name is and it's my mother's maiden surname. But I have learned long ago from a relative in US that their middle name there is different from our middle name here in the Phil. If one has two given names, the first one is the first name and the second one is the middle name. So now I'm quite unsure whether I should put my mother's maiden name, or my second given name as my middle name since my application is for US.

Anyone who already went through kind of stuff... your help is very much appreciated!

I am sure someone will come along and guide you re middle name but I wonder if you really want to go with Ca considering their policy of destroying file after 3 years if you do not provide them with a SSN. Much has been written in the International forum regarding this

your middle name is your mother's maiden name. dont be confused with the middle name. when ask about your name, its your full name, whether you have two names.

I wouldn't think you would have to reveal that you do have a middle name do you?

I think what's written on your birth certificate is your right middle name..

Not necessarily true. If a woman gets married and uses her maiden name as her middle name then it legally becomes her middle name.

Oops, I'm only pertaining to single

How does your Passport show your name?

If your passport shows "Suzanne Rodriguez" and you literally have no middle name then skip it. Not everyone HAS a middle name.

However, if your passport shows "Suzanne Arroyo Rodriguez" then use Arroyo as your middle name even if it is also your mother's maiden name.

Cultures in the USA are varied and diverse and the BON understands this.

Also, I want to mirror what SilverDragon said.

Unless you intend on living and working in California, don't apply there.

If you want to live and work in CA then go right ahead but if you are applying there so that you can "get in" then forget it.

Figure out where exactly you want to live and work and apply there, if not then the cost and trouble of endorsing your license will be ridiculous.

thanks for the information you have given. i just want to clarify. so if for example i am single and my name is Anne Marie Gomez Lopez, Anne Marie is the first name, Gomez is the middle name, and Lopez is the first name? thank you!

If you spell AnnMarie as one word it is your first name, if your name is Ann ( space Marie) then Marie is your middle name. More importantly what is on your official documents such as passport, birth certificate and school transcripts.

That's how I would do it if I were you.

except Lopez should be last name ;)
