MicroBiology

I do not have Microbiology until next semester. Can anyone tell me how rough this class is? I have Psych, OB, and clinical management next semester with it and am starting to worry:bugeyes:

It's not a prereq? I thought usually you have to have micro before you start nursing classes.

HOnestly, I LOVED micro and it was pretty easy.. but it all depends on your instructor and your class load.

Actually Micro is not even part of our ADN program. I need it for the BSN I will start working on in the Fall of 2009. You would be surprised by some of the differences in my program than what everyone on here discusses.

a lot of viruses and bacteria to remember. you will look at these things under the microscope in lab so be prepared to work. micro. is a lot of work, i found it to be stressful, but i had a good lab partner also.as long as u study everyday and make some flash cards u should be ok, i received an A. hope this helps, good luck.

in microbio u can learn how we acquire diseases because u will know what causes them. this is actually a pre-requisite to pathophysiology.. this is a very interesting subject but pretty hard i would say..but fortunately our instructor was very cool.. i got high grade from her! good luck...

Micro was not a prereq for me but it is a co-requisite. I actually completed the course before starting my nursing classes and I'm glad I did! The lab portion of the class is a lot of work....figuring out unknowns and such. I didn't enjoy the course at all but that's just my :twocents:.

It's pretty much like anything else, you get out of it what you put in. If you've been a good student thus far, you'll be fine!

I finished microbiology before I started the nursing program even though its not a prereq (only a coreq) at my school. That was probably the best decision I have made because I've heard horror stories of students trying to take micro with nursing classes... They manage to do it, but its not something I would want to do. My micro class was pretty rough... but it really all depends on your instructor. I managed to get a B in his class, but I worked my butt off for it. Hopefully you have a great instructor! Good luck, you can do it. :nuke:

I will be taking Microbiology this spring as one of pre-requisites for RN. Can someone give some advices or share some tips on studying style on how to get a A? I am specially concerned with this class as I heard it is a more difficult class. Thank you.

I am taking micro right now with AP 2 and I love it!!! I think it's fascinating and my teacher is amazing....I was afraid at first too...but I have a solid A in that class and only 3 weeks to go....your gonna love it!! Good luck!

Microbiology is all about microorganisms. Study your eukaryotes like fungi, protists, and prokaryotes like bacterias and archaeas. If you have lab with this course it will usually involve using a microscope to view different organisms. You usually have to take this course before getting into the Nursing Program. Hope that helps.
