Hi everyone, I am new to the forum. I posted a really wordy post which has not gotten any replies. I realize it was too many questions at once. My primary concern now is that my Microbiology was taken 6-7 years ago (most schools won't take any prereqs over 5 years old) and I would like to get into nursing school as soon as I complete physiology in the Spring semester. Are there any ADN or BSN schools besides Saddleback, Concordia in Irvine, and West Coast College that may accept the micro without me having to retake it? Thanks in advance.

Try posting the same question in your states regional page---in my area 5 years is as old as they will go as far as accepting pre-reqs.
You may just have to bite the bullet and re-take it...I had to take Micro twice as i transfered and school 2 did not accept school 1s micro---FYI I hated micro...

My school accepted Micro and AP I/II if taken within the past 8 years. They wouldn't accept any of them it if done through an online course. It all depends on the school.
HI Batman, would you mind me asking what school, especially if in the state of California? Just curious....Thank you guys for the replies....
I'm in NJ. This was the time frame at two local community colleges. Sorry I couldn't be of more help.

Depends on the school and who you actually meet with. I got my A&P1 accepted by 4 colleges and its over 20 years old. I talked my way into A&P2 and got an A 5 years ago so all the schools I applied to were fine with it. At one I had to write a letter requesting consideration. Felt like writing since Anatomy hasn't changed in the last 20 years its a good bet that I'm still up to speed, lol. :)

Hi! Good luck in getting out of it! I took Micro in '98 & graduated with Associate Degree in Lab(MLT) in '00! My CC is now making me retake Micro to get my RN!Think they just want more of my $$$!

I have been in several similar situations. I find that Keeping all of your syllabi is extremely helpful .This helps administration make a better decision as the accept your class or not. I hope that helps. If you don;t have the old syllabus then you access your old schools catalogs and find a brief description of the class.

I had a similar experience with an Intro to Psych course. I had taken it for my original college degree, prior to becoming an RN, and was asked to repeat the course as a pre-req for a BSN. I actually had to contact the archive librarian at the university I attended 15+ years ago in order to get a course description from the catalogue during the years I attended this out of state university! I did submit this info to the new university and they agreed that I did not need to retake basic psych. You might try this as it may work!
