Memory Notebook of Nursing?

Published

Has anyone ever used the Memory Notebook of Nursing? If so, do you think it is a worthwhile purchase?? Now that I have completed my required textbook purchases, I'm going to try to add a few more books that might be helpful. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks. TGIF!!

I LOVE it! I have all 3, I just wish they would make more! I am a very visual learner, and if I see a cute cartoon explaining something, it's alot easier for me to recall that on a test, than just a page of notes, I bought mine on amazon.com and half.com and got them for about $15 each vs. about $25 at books a million, or barnes and noble. But yes, worth every penny!

It's pretty cool. Allows you to absorb a lot of pertinent info in an incredibly easy to remember format. hmmm, I guess that might have something to do with the name....

I found out about the memory notebook from one of my professors...she made copies on the endocrine sections for all of us and they were invaluable! Especially for us visual learners! ;) I found that making copies and carrying them around were a lot more effective for studying during downtime than simply cramming facts off of notecards. I never purchased the book but made copies from my instructor's.

Definitely! Here's the links to volumes one and two on amazon:

If you're looking to buy them, I'd check on ebay or half first...you may get better prices for a barely used book! Why pay the full retail value?

Yeah, they break it down pretty far, i.e., hypokalemia, right-sided CHF, etc. You get a drawing of a person and then the important S&S for that particular topic. The S&S are depicted as well, to reinforce the message. I had a couple of instructors who included them in the lecture notes. Very helpful.

As far as I remember, they would have several pages for each system...like one illustration for Cushing's, one for Addison's disease, and so forth. They're pretty much like a coloring book, full of illustrations and mnemonics. I had a Gray's Anatomy workbook (my uncle is an MD) when I was a kid and loved that thing...that would be the closest thing I could compare it to, only a lot less complex. Also, if visual learning is your style, the nursing made insanely easy books are fantastic as well:

I'm from the Philippines and I was wondering how can I buy a memory notebook. I saw it and I asked my professor about the book and she told me that it is really helpful for my studies.

Theres a couple in the series, which one do you think is the most beneficial for students starting their first semester?

I bought one at the beginning of nursing school and have almost never used it. It doesn't work for me, because I like to read what I am learning. I guess I am not a visual learner, and those cutesy cartoons do nothing for me.

Besides, I was required to know much more in-depth information for my tests than what those pictures could ever tell me.
