any medics in excelsior?

Fellow firefighter/paramedic here. I'm close to the end of this studying frenzy.

Being a paramedic will definitely help you out with some of the content and at least give you a background for other areas.

Being a paramedic will definatly help. I just finished the program, passed CPNE March 18-20. The CPNE is a very stressful weekend but having CC transport experience helped keep the stress down. I have been a paramedic for 11 years.

I found the Chancellor's study guides to be extremely helpful in studying, plus it cut down on study time. Like I said if you need anything just give me a holler.

Medic/FF here also. Graduated in March. Total time to complete program 4 1/2 mos. Yes thats right 4 1/2 mos. Medics rock the house when it comes to the practical skills portion (According to one of my CE's) but blow dirt on the nurse care planning aspects. Work on this and you will rule all.... Good luck. And just like the other guy said the chancellors guides are great.

I graduated 5 years ago. Didn't use any of the study guides. Did mine in les than 6 months. Biggest problem is over confidence. There are anumber of flight nurses here in KS who are regents grads.

Is regents a different program than excelsior? I haven't heard of it. I am an LPN and EMT planning on starting paramedic school this fall and considering working on my RN through excelsior at the same time. The paramedic program is just a part time 2 days per week 22 months long course. I figured I could work on my RN during that time. Anyway I know Kansas no longer accepts excelsior but is regents different?

Excelsior College used to be Regents. They changed names about 5 or 6 years ago I think. If you want to work on your program while you are in school I would start with whatever pre-reqs you need. You can only take the first 2 nursing exams before you enroll and you have to be a paramedic or LVN to enroll.

Incorrect. You do not have to be an LVN. She is an LPN already so she will be fine. And yes Excelsior did use to be called Regents. BTW something you may wish to think about. I dont know how it works where you are. But here in florida you are allowed to challenge the paramedic exam if you are an RN and have graduated from an approved EMT program. Not trying to steer you from the medic program or anything. Just food for thought. Your state board can tell you more.

Not trying to discourage anyone from Excelsior.... but make you check with your state board of nursing concerning clinical experience across the life span.
