TEAS of 92. Whew, I heard that an 88.9% was in the top one percentile in the USA. So, what is the TEAS score of 92? The highest score ever recorded on the TEAS?

I am trying to figure out the cheapest way for me to get all this done because I have no health insurance.

I'm in the same boat trying to find the cheapest. Before I knew about the titer requirement, I got a couple of immunization shots at Miami-Dade Public Health. I thought they might be the cheapest, but not sure because it still cost me almost $170 and that was just for the first set. They said they give the tuberculosis test too but I haven't purchased that yet.

They told a few of us that asked (in advisement office) that they do it by where you live. But I'm pretty sure you can request one or the other. Do you live in Homestead or close to it? That could be why they put you there initially.

yeap they told me that they go by your address and I do live close to the metro zoo. But I was wondering is Medical campus better than homestead campus?

I went to a Miami-Dade "free" clinic (as I also have no insurance) and it was free for the office visit but you're still required to pay for the lab work which was quite expensive. The drug test alone was $80 and I got faxed results instead of results in a sealed envelope like they are now requesting. I think the best thing to do is ask those clinics that only charge $35 for the drug test if they also do titer tests. Hopefully they're cheaper than the "free" clinics!

Yay! I'm so excited! I'd rather be dealing with this than wondering what to do if we didn't get in.

Misshernandez83, I don't know what the difference is...I've never been to the Homestead campus. I did hear it was really nice though...but as far as the program...no idea.

Can you choose to be placed at a different campus? What if there is no room left? I can't imagine that they can accommodate everyone's request to change campuses no?

Just in case anyone else signed up and paid for the fingerprinting/background check: They do not begin until the 21st. I signed up for and had an appointment for today, only to wait an hour and a half and be told that there was apparently a glitch in the system that allowed me and (at least) one other student to sign up for the fingerprinting.

I did find out that the American Red Cross CPR/AED for the professional rescuer is an acceptable certification for the nursing program- I know that was a question *much* earlier in this thread. My doctor is doing all of the blood work (no Hep B vaccine or durg test) for the cost of an office visit. I'm not sure how much that would cost sans insurance, but it might be worth looking into. My doctor is part of Jackson health, in an office on Biscayne.

I am also wavering a little bit as to which program I should do. Does anyone know if we're really not allowed to work with the accelerated option? I tried to get more information from several people at the medical campus today (since I was already there for my fingerprinting, which didn't happen). No one was really able to give me information specific to one program over the other... there are going to be scholarships available for the generic full time, and there is going to be a scholarship offered for the accelerated program, but I was not able to gather more information other than that. I have to work about 15-20 hours a week during the program, which I was able to do with my last degree without too much of a problem. ugh... I need to decide so I can give me seat to someone else who applied. Help? Suggestions?

I called today and they do it by address. It can also get changed if its wrong.

My docs name is Dr. Sultan Ahmed He's on Miramar Parkway and 62 Avenue. His number is 954-965-6001. For everything including all TB work/titers and physical its $220.00. They have the drugs test for an additional $60.00 but I would recommend using the ones that MDC suggested, they're cheaper.

Based ONLY on what I've heard from current and former nursing students, working during the generic program is tough, but is doable if you can manage your time. For accelerated, working becomes much more difficult. The first acc. Semester is 21 credits, so imagine how much your nose will be in the books. If you have exceptional study skills or can find a desk job where you can study on duty, then it might work. If you MUST work, generic seems like the much better option.

Again, just hearsay.
