MDC Fall 2011 =)

Hi guys! Who else is applying for MDC Fall 2011?

I am also applying for FIU-- I was accepted last year to MDC but for financial and personal reasons could not attend. :'( Who else will be applying to Generic FT? Please state what program you will be applying to!

I will be taking the TEAS sometime in March, in which I will also be taking the HESI A2 for FIU. So I might as well be studying for both, lol. Anybody taken the TEAS at MDC? Share your experiences here! :) I will be using a general book for nursing school entrance exams... it's by Barron... and I will be studying my math from a nursing calculation book, and my sciences from my anatomy, biology, and other notes. Is it true there is geology on the exam? How irrelevant... lol

Well good luck to us all! :heartbeat

Goldonhorn,

I'm not sure the exact hours/dates of full-time compared to part-time.

I've heard it depends. Best I am guessing is that full time is 3 or 4 days a week (depending on the semester) and part time is 2 or 3 days a week (depending on the semester). Most interesting to me is the responses from RN students at MDC. Some have indicated 6 hour clinicals. While others have said 12 hour clinicals. And sometimes 2 days in a row meaning two 12 hours shifts on consecutive days. (This was from 2 RN students in my nutrition class).

I give you BIG kudos if you can do accelerated and raise a newborn. Being successful at that blows my mind. And yes, I'm sure there are students who

can do it... they are just so far advanced compared to me. I know I could never attempt it and expect success. LOL.

I just got my email today- about 4pm, but was on a plane and didn't see it until we landed (yes, I've been glued to my phone's email account). I was accepted to both the generic full time and the accelerated full time programs. I will be accepting the generic full time program, and am in the process of getting the background check appointment :)

yay i got in gpa 3.95 and teas score 92

MissHernandez83

... and you sound so surprised that you got accepted! LOL!

TEAS of 92. Whew, I heard that an 88.9% was in the top one percentile in the USA. So, what is the TEAS score of 92? The highest score ever recorded on the TEAS?

CONGRATULATIONS to you! Have you been accepted into any BSN programs? Or are you definitely going to go to MDC?

Salutations,

CONGRATS on being accepted and choosing the traditional program.

Thanks!! I Wish I knew the days hours.. I guess it's just like registering for classes as I did for the prerequisites different times on different days depending on what works maybe they give us different hours like mw 12-3 or t th 1-2 for example. Someone had told me it was from 7-4pm m-f? I'll find out at orientation.. I'm so excited!!!

Hey, I always heard PT program was weeknights and weekends. It's like 3 years long though. It would be slower but you would be an RN before your baby hits preschool. And you won't sacrifice as much time to be with him/her. :) Good luck anyhow!

Does anyone know why the old form required a Varicella & Measles titer only if you don't get vaccinated, but the new form says you have to get the titer regardless? I heard the titer is very expensive and wondering where I can get it.

BLEH I wouldn't have noticed that unless you had said something. I guess people got the chicken pox during clinicals? lol bummer, one more thing to put on the list.

No. Ths sux, gotta move! I live in Davie!

I live right by you. But I think I'm going to move to Miami before school starts because traffic will be a nightmare every day.

I had a rubella (and all others) vaccination when I was about 5 yrs old and when I took the titer it said I was immune to chicken pox, measles, and mumps but not rubella so I had to be re-vaccinated. I hope I'm immune to it this time! That must have happened to people in the program but they may have gotten sick. It was about $350 at a clinic in dade county. Let me know if you find it any cheaper.
