MDC Fall 2011 =)

Hi guys! Who else is applying for MDC Fall 2011?

I am also applying for FIU-- I was accepted last year to MDC but for financial and personal reasons could not attend. :'( Who else will be applying to Generic FT? Please state what program you will be applying to!

I will be taking the TEAS sometime in March, in which I will also be taking the HESI A2 for FIU. So I might as well be studying for both, lol. Anybody taken the TEAS at MDC? Share your experiences here! :) I will be using a general book for nursing school entrance exams... it's by Barron... and I will be studying my math from a nursing calculation book, and my sciences from my anatomy, biology, and other notes. Is it true there is geology on the exam? How irrelevant... lol

Well good luck to us all! :heartbeat

Oh pheww that would be so awesome if we both did! And Congrats to your friend, that is soooo awesome! :-) I wish I had gone, I would have loved to get to see around. Is the Simlab nice? What did the current students say?

I know what you mean! I am so excited. I can hardly wait til June to get the letter!

I am going to the Med campus later because I want to turn in my application for work-study. I would like to start ASAP since I am done with my pre-reqs this term. I was told that they were super flexible around your nursing school schedule. It seems like the ideal job to have. I mean it doesn't pay much but it seems like a win-win!

If you ever think about doing it, go to http://www.mdc.edu/financial_aid/important_forms.asp and click "Student Employment Requests" under General Forms.

I thought the labs were nice. The dummies talk, blink and breath, its really cool. The students I talked with are in the accelerated program, I am applying for the generic though. They said it was really hard, to get used to not getting A's anymore. They also said they are all really close though and help each other out and they were all happy with the program. I am pretty nervous now to say the least Haha! Wish I could add another brain inside my head, I think I might try to read some critical thinking test taking strategies books and get the NCLEX book and look it over this summer.

Oh that's great. Accelerated must be scary. I am nervous also, but I am looking forward to it so much.

I'm just trying to get physically, mentally, emotionally, spiritually prepared for this. I am working out a little more often, trying to get used to waking up really early, going to sleep early, etc. There are so many things to do in the meantime. We got the worst over with though, the TEAS. Well, maybe the wait is worse, lol. Sigh.

Hey Marah!

I took the test on Wednesday & got an 86. My science GPA, I believe, is 3.9... I'm not worried about my GPA, but do you think the TEAS is a little low?

Either way, I surprised myself because I got really bad scores on the practice exams. On the first one I got a 64  I actually cried that night because I thought I wasn't going to pass!!! God is Good :)

Did you end up going to the Open House? I couldn't go.

Would you happen to know the scores of the others that took the teas V with you?

I only got to see the scores of two people when I took it...they both were taking it for the second time and got in the mid 60's...I have talked to a couple other people that have taken it since then and got in the mid to upper 70's but some of them were planning on taking it again. hope that helps ya =)

Hm I didn't see anything =/ But the proctor told me I did real good and I shouldn't retake it. So I guess a score in the 80s range is really good... kind of hard to believe lol When are you taking it, Flex?

I already took it a couple months back. I got a 78.7% and my GPA is 3.85. I might have to use up my second shot if everyone is scoring high like you guys.

How many people are they accepting for the generic program only?

Hey a 78.7 looks pretty good to me, but if you feel you want to go higher, you've got nothing to lose! Maybe you can find someone here who got accepted last semester about the cut off score/gpa was. I'd like to know myself.

I made a post in the prenursing forum that's called "How I studied for the TEAS V....HTH" its a sticky at the top. It might help you, but then again since you've already taken it, it might not. When do you plan on taking it?

I can't remember what the number of Generic students is. =/ Marah, wasn't it like 100 or something? I think 50/50 between PT and FT. But you'd be better off calling and asking.

I'm gonna try to take it sometime this month. I see a lot of dates available. I guess I ll have to to study for this thing. I was trying to avoid that. (I'm so lazy)

haha well good luck... just pick at it a day at a time. that's what i did. it works better that way anyhow. : )

I think they let in 100 students too but I am not sure...good luck on your second shot Flex! I think a 78.7 is a pretty good score though =) I would look at what sections you did the worst at and focus on studying just those sections if you dont have a lot of time.

On Eagle Wings, hello again! How funny that we find each other going throught this dreadful application process again. I got in last year too and like you was unable to go for financial/personal reasons. I have been a bit discouraged since then, but am reapplying this year to the PT program. I am taking the TEAS on March 24 (pretty much freaking out about it).

I was wondering, how did you guys calculate your science GPA? Also, do you have to take Intro to Health Assesment to get in this year?
