MDC Fall 2011 =)

Hi guys! Who else is applying for MDC Fall 2011?

I am also applying for FIU-- I was accepted last year to MDC but for financial and personal reasons could not attend. :'( Who else will be applying to Generic FT? Please state what program you will be applying to!

I will be taking the TEAS sometime in March, in which I will also be taking the HESI A2 for FIU. So I might as well be studying for both, lol. Anybody taken the TEAS at MDC? Share your experiences here! :) I will be using a general book for nursing school entrance exams... it's by Barron... and I will be studying my math from a nursing calculation book, and my sciences from my anatomy, biology, and other notes. Is it true there is geology on the exam? How irrelevant... lol

Well good luck to us all! :heartbeat

For anyone starting MDC in the fall, I have books to sell, all in great condition Here are a few:

Fundamentals of Nursing $45

Fundamentals Success (great review book to get you thru the Fundamentals class) $15

Application of Nursing Process and Nursing Diagnosis (great for care plans) $15

Or $70 for all 3

All have CD's, the last two haven't even been opened.

I am located in south Broward, please PM me if you are interested.

By the way, I forgot to mention, I bought my stethoscope at uniform advantage (right on US1 across from So. Mia. Hospital). They give an additional 10% off for students (must show ID). I think the total for my Littman Classic II was 65 plus tax? Cheaper than the school book store.

i haven't even received my schedule yet. is anyone here in the same boat as me?

and can anyone here recommend a good NCLEX practice book?

I reaaaally like Lippincotts for questions. Reviews and Rationals is best for content review, although it does have good questions. Saunders is also really good for questions. I guess you have to look through them yourself and see what you would need. :-)

With a 3.22 GPA and a TEAS score of 80 I have been rejected, I kind of saw it coming but didn't want to give up hope. I have already started planning for applying next semester. I want to retake my TEAS test (study a bit harder of course. Do you think scoring a low 90 would greatly improve my chances?) and apply for 2012. I also wanted to apply to Broward college because I've heard it's a lot easier to get in (I would just have to take an additional prerequisite). Another option I had in mind was applying to Keiser University. I see that they are accredited and legit. The only thing that scares me is the price tag $35,000 is A LOT of money. I also want to apply for FASFA to help me pay for school. Finally, I can apply for it because I'm considered independent and lost my job of 3 years about a month ago =( but that's another story. Sorry for the long post, i just have a ton of things going through my head. So future nurses, please let me know what you think, any guidance in the right direction would be greatly appreciated. I would like some input on my options and any other choices that I didn't mention. Thanks for all your help

Has anyone else received a syllabuss for any of there classes ?

I'm interested but don't know how to private message I

In hollywood

If getting into a program asap is a high priority, then Keiser may be worth it. I was attending there for a while in a different healthcare program. Most of the other students I met were in the RN program. It is expensive, but super easy to get into. That was a couple of years ago and there was no waiting list, although I don't know about now. If I remember correctly, it is accelerated too - so you'll finish sooner.

Thank you for your input =) I've heard that there still is no waiting list. I'd hate to leave school with so much debt so I'm sort of making that my final option. I wonder if fasfa would help i any way. Any info on Broward college?

Hi guys, I just want you guys to know that I've heard (from many different students), that this has been the most difficult year to get in this program since its inception at MDC. So, for those who didn't get accepted this time around, keep your chin up and just continue on being persistent! I'm not really sure how it works, but I would assume that it would be easier to get into that program with a higher degree since there are many out there who just want to get into the program as soon as possible with fewer credits.

As for me, I figure that I was one of the last ones to get called, because most of the other people who got accepted as well were contacted a long time ago.

I also was wondering if any of you guys are going to be attending that Homestead campus. I have never been there, and it would be nice to know people that know their way around that campus.

i feel the same way. i was accepted mid july and never intended to go the hometead campus. ive been to homestead once before. real nervous on driving 1 1/2 hrs to class lol

Well, believe me…the drive is worth it, just put her on cruise control all the way to Campbell Drive.LOL. I’m going to start snooping around campus starting next week, so if you’re going to be around let me know, so we could meet up.

I have to run some errands now , but I’ll be back on this thread latter on to keep up the latest info:-)

The only other info I know is that while I was at Keiser, several of the students were transferring to Nova and said it a great program too (I think they said it was easy to get into because you didn't have to provide references or something).
