MDC Fall 2011 =)

Hi guys! Who else is applying for MDC Fall 2011?

I am also applying for FIU-- I was accepted last year to MDC but for financial and personal reasons could not attend. :'( Who else will be applying to Generic FT? Please state what program you will be applying to!

I will be taking the TEAS sometime in March, in which I will also be taking the HESI A2 for FIU. So I might as well be studying for both, lol. Anybody taken the TEAS at MDC? Share your experiences here! :) I will be using a general book for nursing school entrance exams... it's by Barron... and I will be studying my math from a nursing calculation book, and my sciences from my anatomy, biology, and other notes. Is it true there is geology on the exam? How irrelevant... lol

Well good luck to us all! :heartbeat

I know this is pretty ignorant, but what are 'clinicals'? Is that where we intern at hospitals and do we have to apply like a job with references, job history, and all that (I don't have any experience in health care)? Thanks

Pretty much hospital/nursing home/"clinical" rotations where we practice what we learned in theory and in skills labs on real people :D

No we don't need experience. We will be learning everything from scratch. You see how first semester we get fundamentals lecture, lab, and clinical? We start clinicals a little after our classes start so we can have a foundation to actually practice on. So no worries :) although I am pretty nervous too.

i have not gotten an email either. I am p/t option. I guess we will just have to wait and see until Monday!

Just called Reba, and left her a message, asking her to give me a call letting me know the status of my application!!! Well now I just have to wait, and hope for the best!!! I will let you guys know the outcome

Does anyone know from previous nursing students if we need the supplemental DVDs or codes for online access with the textbooks? Otherwise I prefer to get the paperback international edition (usually from India in English) for much cheaper. I've got the international edition for my A&P class and also micro and it was the *exact* same page-for-page as the super expensive hardback. Those ones were brand new, shrink wrapped, and had the online access codes. But I'm not 100% sure if this one includes the DVD. On the other hand, I've taken several MDC classes which sold a special edition with all kinds of multi-media supplements that we never used.

For example here's "Fundamentals of Nursing" (7th ed) for $45.48 ($39.81 + $5.67 S&H)

I spoke to Reba a few days ago and she said I have to wait till the end of July to know whether if I got accepted or not. at this point, I'm gonna take this as denial for the fall. I know for a fact no one gets accepted once orientation is over with.

To be honest with you, I think you are totally right, I think is time to focus on spring because fall is already over for us!!! Well good luck for us LOL!!!

tuition cost 5200 per semester?!?!

tuition cost 5200 per semester?!?!

I think that's the overall program cost, right?

Yes, $5200 tuition for the whole program. I am estimating the tuition costs based on approx. $124/credit hour. The accelerated programs tuition for the first semester is $2586 for 21 credits.

It is estimated that the 72 required credits and fees for graduation will cost in-state students $7,200.00 Students with out-of-state status will pay $22,200.00. In addition, students will need materials such as uniforms, books, shoes, physical exam/immunizations, watch, stethoscope, NCLEX-RN exam fee that are estimated as $2,220.00

This is for the 72 credit hours...but that include the pre requisites. The program itself is 42 credits so it should be around 4000, which considering the cost of other programs out there it's super cheap! :lol2: :D
