MCG BSN Program:

....Just wondering if anyone (who applied for priority admission to the BSN program at MCG) has heard anything??? I have not and am getting a little anxious!

Exactly!! I don't want to settle for an asociates when I am so close to a bachelors at this point. If I don't get in I will actually get a degree in community health and have my minor in psychology. From what my school says, community health and nursing really go hand in hand and its a great degree to have (other than a BSN) if you want to eventually get a masters in nursing. I am also taking a full load of communtiy health classes now so I don't lose a semester if I don't get in.

I really enjoy science too! I loved my A&P classes and really all of my pre-reqs, except for bio-chem which I hated. One of my old roomates is in her 2nd semester for Emory's nursing program and she got her bachelors in Biology and went straight on to Emory.

Hey!! Have you heard anything yet? I still haven't heard from them. My application status is still the same. It seems like we have been waiting so long!! Do you even think we will hear this month? I know on their website it says it could be March...

MARCH!!?? No I haven't heard anything yet. My status still says ready for review. I called them and they said it would be mid-Feb when we hear something. I get a little more frustrated everyday with this because I've been waiting since October.

I also had all of my required stuff in before Oct. 15th. The lady told me it would be reviewed for early admission. I don't know why they have the early deadline if it doesn't even matter. I hope that we will hear something this month. Its not like we have to base life decisions on this or anything! Oh well I guess we just keep waiting. Hopefully it will be soon! Let me know if you hear anything!! :)

I will. I have planned to move out in June but I need to know if I should look in Athens or in Dahlonega. I also don't understand early decision if there is no decision made until February.

I know right. I have to figure out where im going to live or resign a lease at my apartment now. Also I need to register for classes so if I don't get in I can have decent classes. It's just hard to figure out what we have to do with when we don't know where we are going to be!!

Hi! Can anyone who has been accepted tell me what the typical (or their own) GPA is??? I have a fairly decent GPA--3.4, but am not sure if that is good enough. I am also hoping that they "forgive" grades as my GPA would be much higher had it not been for a single class I failed (due to an illness) that is not even needed for the nursing program!! (I changed my major around a year ago.) It is so frustrating about this one class, but I did mention it in my essay, as did as my professors who sent a Letter of Rec. for me. I have also gotten several W's as I quit school years ago before I got back in. I have made great grades since returning--A's in A&P, Microbiology, etc. I know they say they look at overall trend of grades, but as I applied in October, & haven't heard a thing, I am getting a little concerned!! I also saw on the website that the avg. GPA in the past is 3.5, but that is an AVERAGE where there could be several really high one's in there with some lower ones....or I'm hoping this is the case! Can anyone offer any insight??? Thanks! & by the way...I have gotten my grades evaluation letters with the two transcripts I have sent...I guess that is good?!?

Well, my GPA is a 3.1 and I hope that is enough because I also have shadow experience and I know that kind of goes a long way. I know one girl who got in but I'm not sure what her GPA was. I know she was an A and B student so probably around a 3.4 or 3.5. She and I applied together with one other girl in October. Out of the three of us, one got in, one didn't and I'm still waiting to hear something. I called the admissions office a week ago to ask if there was something wrong with my application and the lady told me everything was fine but I wouldn't know anything until mid February. I'm thinking that is next week.

Thanks for the reply! I sure hope we hear something soon!!! I HATE the waiting! Uggh! While I don't have shadow experience, I do have some volunteer experience...I am sure that your shadowing experience can do nothing but help you out! It is a little discouraging when some people have heard already. I just hope that ONE class doesn't hurt me...I have virtually all A's except that...outside of a couple B's. Let me know if you hear something....I am so tired of seeing "READY FOR REVIEW" on my status page!

Hi! I would think that a 3.4 is competitive! You are close to that 3.5 mark so I would think you are in pretty good shape :) I would also think your volunteer experience would help as well. Anything that helps you stand out is good! Ive been waiting since Oct. as well. It seems like its been forever! Did you apply for the Augusta campus? I can't seem to find anyone else who applied for the Athens campus. I would try not to worry about your one F, especially if you were able to explain it. The fact that you have one and still have a 3.4 sounds good to me! Good luck!

Thank you so much for your kind words of encouragement! They really help right now. I am also in the same boat you are--I applied to the Athens campus (Augusta is not an option for me). I know 2 people who have gotten acceptance letters within the past week. One of them is someone who didn't apply until the Dec. deadline, & it is to the Athens campus as well.....so excited for her, but a little discouraged for myself since I have yet to hear a thing & I applied in October. Still, maybe all hope is not lost, & we will hear some good news soon!!

Well that helps a lot to hear that you applied to Athens in Oct. I have been so worried that I haven't heard anything yet. I am just really getting nervous the longer it takes the more nervous I get. Hopefully we will all hear good news next week!
