Hi all!
I just found out today I got hired :) It'll be my 1st LVN job. I need advice on what to look for on malpractice insurance. Or is it all the same?
Thank you!

Many congratulations!! What area will you be working in? Check out this company and if you ask to have this moved to the general forum I bet you will get more responses. http://www.nso.com/

I'll be working at an Developmental Day Program. Similar to an Adult Day Program/Center, but for the developmentally disabled. There's an RN on staff, but I won't be working when she is. I really think malpractice insurance is necessary-ESPECIALLY for this job.
That sounds awesome! I have a friend that does Adult Day Care with mixed clients, some geri some dd and loves it. Again congratulations. I remember when I first realized I actually was a nurse, this will be a very exciting time for you.

We have a malpractice policy available under our homeowners insurance. It is specifically for nurses and is very inexpensive. If you own your home, check with your agent.

i feel like such a newbie for asking this, but when i went on NSO, it told me the total due was $48 at the most. On PL, it told me my total was $114 at the most. is this per month or for the whole year??
I hear that state farm has their own liability? does anyone have coverage from them? am i better off going there, or places like NSO and PL?
unfortunately, am not in the position to own a home-yet. thank you though! i'll keep that in mind for the future. i appreciate it!
Yes, State Farm has a policy available. They are the ones I was talking about with the homeowners policy. I don't know if they offer it to people as an independent policy. Check it out anyway. It is worth a try. For me, it was half the cost of the full price policy that you got...and I bought it when I was just out of nursing school.
i ended up just signing with NSO. $48 for the first year doesn't seem so bad. thanks so much for the good advice! i love this site! haha
