Ok - it is barely noon and here is what I have done today.
1. 1.5 hour SST meeting.
2. Helped gather info and student for Licensed Drug Counselor - student fresh out of rehab for heroin, marijuana, cocaine, fomaldehyde, etc.
3. Meeting with Psychologist about two very troubled kids. 1 is a child abuse case. The other has a keloid scar on his ear that is almost as big as he is.
4. Talked with 2 homebound teachers. 1 for a student with leukemia and 1 that just had a baby. The first postpartum homebound teacher never showed...hopefully, this new one will.
5. Was called to library because student bit his ex-girlfriend. had to make necessary parental and administrative contacts.
6. Checked with my husband....sick baby at home today.
7. sprinkled in were a couple of sore throats and irritated eyes
8. walked some cotton balls to a teacher decorating a wintery bulletin board.
9. Presently...eating with one hand and typing with the other......and listening to my walkie-talkie - 1 kid (my drug rehab girl was thrown out of reading class), another 2 are throwing paper out of an upstairs window, another 3 are running top hallway flinging doors open.
ahhhh. middle school! I couldn't imagine being anywhere els.
I was going to finish up those 13 or so vision screenings I had left.....Well, maybe I'll save those for tomorrow.
And they said school nursing was going to be boring!!

You day sounds like mine!
First thing I got was the boy who put 50-100 lac's in his right arm. Saw some random things between that. Lots of GI crap (literally) going around. Got called to the main hallway where our custodian fell down, huge hematoma on her forehead/hip/arm pain. She got sent to the doctor. Got the cutter back again for a re-bandage since his arm itched from the first wrap. Did some counseling with him that time. Lunch was my fruit & yogurt parfait from McD's.
Calculated BMI's for about 80 students, and got their height/wt/BMI/distant vision recorded on a form to go home with them.
