LPN Student Question

You can apply for your nursing assistant license now (after completion of your 1st semester) and I suggest you get it and get experience. I'm north of Boston and typically LPN's pay range is as low as $15 to $28... Primarily you will only find LTC position s for an LPN.. I don't know of many hospitals that higher LPN's. here we can hang blood, or IV med push.. If your not into Geriatrics.. Think of a Dr's office, community health or 1:1 in home health or a school setting? You can work in an correctional facility :). Get creative and you can find something. I'm an LPN and I've done so much over a short period.. Now I'm back in school for my RN and this will open up more opportunities but even so, hospitals like a BSN...

Don't get discouraged. Start looking on Craisgslist now for jobs in that area to get a picture of what's out there and how much they are paying!

I had no experience although they trained me and certified me on usage of a mechanical vent and etc. Starting salary was 48,000. I loved that job but they had no healthcare insurance. Now i currently work in corrections which has the best insurance an less work. Right now im currently in school to finish off my bsn.

I worked corrections and love it! I think you can utilize TONS of your skills there and the autonomy was awesome!

Omg! That's amazing. I thought we weren't allowed to work w PCCs. That would be amazing. Where do you live! I really want to start looking into different areas of practice as an LPN :)

I am a LPN , I work in home care. I live in Michigan , and there are hospitals that do hire LPN .. I just had a interview for LPN position, on a orthopedic floor.. waiting for the call.. Anyway in I. Home care, LPN can make $25.00, an hour for licensed cases, and $35, for one hour visits .. Hope this helps .

I'm in south Florida and I saw a hospital hiring on their ICU floor for an LPN. There are some hospital jobs, but very few.

I think it depends on where you are. I work at a hospital right now as a PCT in Middle Ga, there were just a bunch of LPN positions opened up all over the hospital. I asked my nurse manager about that, she said it has to do with budgets! Of course, they can hire an LPN cheaper! lol But I have also heard of some hospitals that won't hire LPN's anymore at all. There is even talk about a local hospital here only hiring BSN's. So again, I guess it depends on location. :) I never thought about working in corrections when I get done with LPN, that seems interesting....and a bit scary?
