LPN Bridge programs

Nursing Students Online Learning

Can anyone direct me to a good LPN to RN degree ( bridge program) that is online? Do they even exist? I saw Excelsior College I believe but haven't had the time to research it much. I am planning on starting a LPN program in August I just want to have a good path to follow. Once I have my RN. I plan on working in a hospital and having them foot the bill for the BSN! Thank You in advance!

there is a good online program for LPN to RN's in Ohio but you would still have to live in this state because you have to travel to a specific location in ohio for clinicals once a week...other than that the only online one I know of is the college network/excelsior type stuff...be weary of these though, please do read reviews negative and positive. All I had to do was spend an hour researching these type of programs and I had my mind made up.

Unfortunately I've never heard of any other program besides Excelsior due to the extensive clinical requirement in obtaining your RN. I just graduated from a live LPN to RN program and it was really rigorous. A coworker of mine did Excelsior and she was very disciplined (I am not) but it was incredibly expensive between the tuition, books, cost of exams and then traveling to NY for the clinical requirements at the end of the program. I decided I'd rather knock it all out in 3 semesters in person and saved up so I could work part time while doing so. Glad it's finally over, best of luck to you in whatever you decide.

First of all, the hospital from which I retired from will NOT accept any online degrees for positions that require that degree...no online BSNs,MSNs or PhDs are accepted. Second, online learning has its place, but there are some things that you simply need a real teacher for in a real setting. Online schools often prey on folks who wish to further their education but who lack time to do so. STAY AWAY from places like the College Network which is not a college, but a predatory scam. Stay away from the University of Phoenix or any for profit school as they are very expensive and have a questionable reputation. Find a local community college or four year traditional school which has experience with adult learners where you won't break the bank and get a good education.

Thank U Your just like myself. Im so weary of all these fly by night Nursing Programs. Im totally with you there!

Im a IN PERSON/ Hands on person as well. Im a single mom and I was tbinking whats easy. I have realized whats easy isnt always best. I am going to find a place locally. Thank U so much!

Thank U.... All these comments have made up my mind. I am a hands on person. I respect LPN's. But How can you LEARN tp Nurse Like a RN UNLESS you are really there and hands on Oh, YOU CANNOT!!!. I thank all you amazing Nurses for the advice!

Many LPNs who do Excelsior have been nurses for years and they have plenty of hands on. I know several RNs with degrees from brick and mortor schools who would never be able to pass the EC Clinical - ever! EC's program is reputable, but not easy. Don't diss something you know nothing about.

I and the thousands of other Excelsior-grad RNs beg to differ. :) The whole point of Excelsior's program is that students have already had clinical, hands-on experience -- sometimes decades of it. But hey, to each his/her own. Best of luck in your program.

I beg to differ. All of the members who have contributed to this particular thread have been 'nice' by providing honest opinions, personal experiences and feedback to help the OP arrive at her decision.

Have any of the excelsior grads had issues getting work? I work at a facility where the majority of its nurses were farmed out in 15 months with no pre requisites. I am the only one who has gone to a selective community college program and am being urged by several peers to bite the bullet and bridge through the same school (if I can get accepted). My issue is money was very tight when I was a CNA and even though I make twice as much now, it still isn't enough to keep my family afloat part time. The program available to me is very rigorous and the schedule will cut my hours significantly seeing as I work about 200 hours a month. I'm considering excelsior and indiana state university, any input is appreciated and sorry for thread robbing.
