I work with several nurses that are 50 or greater in age. They have wonderful nursing wisdom and are a true asset to the floor. Come on back ... we need you. :)

There's a bunch at our hospital. And on all floors.

No probs concerning a nurse's age (so long as the work's done as expected).

I'm 45 and doing fine.

A new study/ research just came out in the past 2 weeks ( can't think of what it was called). It had to do with the nursing shortage and the current influx of older nurses. It stated that across the United States, the average age of nurses applying for nursing jobs, especially floor nurses, was age 50 years old.

If I can get the article again, I will post it.

48 and still pushin' gurneys, "transferring" patients and working 40+ hr per week in Cath Lab. I did change jobs to get off call, last year. Call me a wuss, but after 23+ years of being on call I decided to stop it. :D

I am 50 and working on a spinal cord injury unit and returning to school for my BSN through Phoenix on line. You are never too old :balloons:
