how long did you study for nclex

I understand your anxiety. It won't be any easier 2-3 months from now. I recommend that you practice with CD's or study guides or whatever is available to you and sit for the exam right away. You know the content!! It is just the fear of the test itself that creates anxiety. Take it, and get on with your life. Good luck!!! (>80% pass the first try!!)

2-3 weeks of studying which wouldn't have made a difference because nothing I reviewed was on it. You either no it or you don't. Good Luck!

I completely agree with BamaGirl. Take it ASAP. I took mine within 3 weeks of graduating (more like 2). I had been doing practice questions off and on for about 1 month. When I got my ATT, I scheduled the test for 7 days later. Over those seven days I reviewed things that I thought I was weak on. Nothing, let me repeat...NOTHING I reviewed was on it. And when I left the test, I was glad I hadn't spent weeks studying because I knew it wouldn't have made a bit of a difference. My advice is to take it within 1 month. The sooner you schedule it, the more motivated you'll be.

A lot of my friends who already passsed reviewed through Kaplan course for about a month. Although the questions are not similar the content is the same. I finished Kaplan course and will be trying for the second time tomorrow at 8 am. I'll let you know if the Kaplan course helped me. A lot of my friends strongly recommend it. That's all they used to pass. But then again everyone is different.

thanks for the advice, i recently received my ATT this past weekend (may 29)...i am scheduled to take the test july2nd.

Are you saying that the kaplan questions are not similar to the NCLEX questions? If so are the Kaplan questions easier or harder than NCLEX? I am still waiting for my ATT and I am so ready to take this test.

I studied for three-4 months... dailey... every chance I had. Did anywhere up to 400 questions a day.

But like they say... everyone's different... and I'll never know if it helped me to pass in the end or not.

When did you submit you application and what state do you live in? I submitted mine on May 17th and have not received anything from the Georgia board. I keep calling and all they say is it hasn't been entered into the computer yet.

i may be wrong, but NCSBN notified me when they received my application and fee. at that time, they told me that if i didn't receive my ATT within 4 weeks, then i would have to get in touch with them. it should be on the way.

Relax. Take a deep breath. I've been watching your posts and from what I can tell, you are going to do well. You're doing the right things and asking the right questions. Everyone's experience with the NCLEX is different. I felt that the questions were closest to Kaplan-style. Others will disagree. Who's right? Probably all of us. You will drive yourself crazy if you take everyone's advice. Do what feels comfortable and right for you. I have a good feeling that you're going to do very well. Hang in there!

I didn't study. Studied for my school grad exam, but not for boards which were two weeks later, and I passed both.

10 years later I had to retake a board exam for immigration and I didn't study for that either. I figured that after being a nurse that long I either knew my stuff or I didn't, and I was actually curious as to what score I would make. Passed easily.

I think most people who pass would be able to do it without the intense studying, but of course you can't take such an important test without giving it your all. So study, but have a life too, and be relaxed about it. If you are safe to practice on the floor, and you can answer your instructor's questions 95% of the time, you are probably fine.
