Linfield Spring 2019

Published

Hello guys, I am planning to apply to Linfield for spring 2019 entry. I was wondering if anyone is planning to apply and what your educational background, such as, prereq GPA, science GPA, and healthcare experience.

Specializes in Medical and general practice now LTC.

I am also planning on applying for the spring 2019 cohort!

I am very nervous.... Linfield is my quickest route to obtain my BSN and one of the only schools that doesn't require work experience so I am putting all my eggs into one basket for now! My pre-req GPA is going to be (hopefully) around 3.75 assuming I finish spring term with A's, and my overall is just about the same. I have no medical work experience but tons of volunteer experience about 4 years worth but only 1 year of medical volunteer experience.

I also applied to Linfield Spring 2019 cohort, and am also extremely nervous! This is my first time applying to any programs, and the competitiveness is intimidating. I have a 3.9 pre-req GPA and am taking micro in the fall, the rest of my gpa is dragged down by some bad classes a decade ago... I am taking a CNA course this summer, and have worked in healthcare related fields (as a legal disability advocate and for a medical equipment company) but not direct patient care. Linfield seems like a really good fit for me so I am really hoping for the best!

I am still working on my application for spring 2019.

I am going to apply everywhere as they open.

I applied to UP last fall and got waitlisted, they said they won't take anyone off the waitlist.

I applied to Clark college already.

My gpa is not good at all, prerequisites is 3.7, science is 3.66 and A&P is 3.5.

Taking chem 105 and history this summer, then taking SOC and maybe retake a&p3 to get an A.

I took A&P1 (3x) W, C, A. A&P2 (2X) C, B. A&P3 I got B but want to retake it.

I have 2 years CNA experience.

Hi Sue, from what I have heard, I would take a B instead of retaking AP3. Also, since you took AP1 technically 3 times, they will only count the second attempt if I remember right. Even if your first attempt was a W. I have a buddy who just finished his first semester at Linfield and he said a ton of his classmates got straight B's and C's in the AP series so don't worry. When Linfield evaluates, they hold the most weight (in this order): A&P GPA, Science GPA, and then overall Prereq GPA. They also look for community evolvement, patient care experience (work or volunteer), prior degree, etc. Having the 93 transferable credits done at the time of your application is a big one too. You can always PM me or hit me up here if you have any questions about anything :)

They only take the second attempt, including a W, so in sue22's case they would use your "C" in a&p 1 to calculate your gpa.

But like mentioned above, most weight is on a&p gpa then science, then pre req! However, from my conversations with the gal from linfields admission's office, she said that having all prerequisites done is a huge help, but not necessarily having all 93 transfer credits as long as they see you can reasonably finish up before Jan 10th.

Thank you all for the replies. Now we wait.

Did they give you guys any indication of when they were going to start letting people know? From my understanding they are hoping to have everyone evaluated by Sept 1st but because of UP (hey thanks UP.......), they have more applicants that usual... My guess would be mid to late sept.

Hi FalconBlue25,

I think they will mail out the letters by the end of Sep. What do you mean by "because of UP, they hae more applicants than usual"?

I heard a friend that UP is not going to be accepting any nursing cohorts for the next few years and I believe that included it's most recent. That means people who were accepted and alternate at UP this last go around ended up applying for Linfield since UP was no longer an option. I was told there was more apps then usual too.

You were correct. I called UP and they comfirmed it. It's not a good news. Did you apply for Linfield Spring 2019?
