license was suspended - documentation errors

Hello everyone, yesterday the BON called me and told me my license was suspended due to my documentation errors!!! I am so distraught, I had started a new job in the ER (my true love) and was having a great time, I was immediately accepted by the other nurse and the MD's. Now today I had to go to my supervisor and tell her about all this crap..The hospital that accused me of doc errors, that my husband still works there, gave him a dollar an hour raise and a thousand dollar bonus, to "soften the blow" of what they did to me....IS THAT NOT CROOKED OR WHAT??? They feel guilty for this, but now I am out of work and I dont know the details of what the BON wants me to do...it cant be rehab or anything like that because the problem was a couple of documentation errors!! I dont understand. Maybe if I was a druggie I would get off easier. I dont know what to do... I need advice on this. There were many drugs also missing at the hospital, I was cleared of that, but everyone thinks thats why I got fired. Now people at other hosp in the area are talking "about the nurse that was fired because she was doing drugs". How can i clear my name, I love nursing, I want to return but I cant even think straight right now.

I agree. I don't really see what's wrong with it. So far I think she has received good advice here.

i do remember her posting from a while ago..it does seem strange

benefit of doubt????????? not sure

Why would you want the thread to be closed? Doesn't everyone have the right to ask for guidance?

Her original post was not her thread. She was asking a question in response to what someone else had started since she had this delimma on her hands.

Although I am not an RN yet, and am not educated on med waste and narcs, I learn a lot from other people's errors and problems. If we don't learn from our own mistakes, we may learn from other's.

It seems as though her whole unit had a "comfortable, quick" (although not proper) way of doing the waste documentation. She's the only one that was "caught" with errors and no one else it taking blame. I will make sure to look out for myself, and not get comfy.

Thanks to Lisa Bear (funny thing is that is what my hubby calls me!!!) for what she has educated me on. I hope no one else is in fear of their thread being closed for asking for help for screwups.

Good point! I learn from my own mistakes as well as others' mistakes.

I'm also interested in finding out if this phone call was legitimate or some weirdo. If it's fraud, we all need to be aware of the possibility. If the call is legit, we need to be aware that a BON would call instead of sending a letter.

The OP needs to own her errors, though. Although I'm not saying she isn't doing that.

I mean no disrespect with the OP in this situation and I do realize she was responding to another thread, indeed. However, so much as been left out with her description of the incident in THIS thread in comparison to her comments in the other one.

She has received very good advice and can view this at any time she chooses. Note, she has not returned for any further comment to the questions posed regarding the call from the BON and such.

It is only my opinion and I am sure many others have the same. But, only an opinion and I do not advocate anyone being unable to receive help in any situation such as this.

I'm closing this pending moderator discussion. As has been said, the OP has rec'd good advice, and has not returned to comment further.
