Well guys,
I got accepted to one of the programs I applied to. Now I just have to wait for UTMB....Problem is I am supposed to either accept/decline my spot in the first program by April 17....And Chances are I won't hear a peep from UTMB until after that. (deadline for all letters, acceptance/denial for utmb is may 1st) Why do they taunt me so?????

i had the same problem a few weeks ago. contact the program you've been accepted to and ask if you can have an extension on accept/decline. i was able to get one for another 2 weeks.

Congratulations on your one accept...:balloons:
I understand why you're waitin' though...I hear UTMB is awesome!
Good luck and let us know what you hear/decide...:)
I got accepted to the ADN program at the local CC here in galveston. They have made a TON of changes over the last 2 years and from what I hear from this years class things are going well. So I am pleased to hear that. I am taking pharmacology now from one of the nursing instructors and she is a great teacher. One of the few instructors that nows how to use powerpoint effectively... ie - not just reading off of a slide. I HATE that. Whats the point of coming? I can read by myself ya know?! Anway, that was an unforseen ramble. HA!
Do you still have a big fat "pending" on your UTMB page too Aussiepubowner? I am telling you...torture of the worst kind!!

If I were you, I would just go ahead and accept the spot just in case the other school does not accept me. What if you decline and the other school denies you? The only logic things would be to accept now or ask for extension to reply. Good luck to you

Yes! And on my UT-Houston page. I have ulcers all over my tongue. That only happens to me when I am stressed. (Deep Breath) Whew! I think I should quit checking the web pages 15 times a day! That might help.
As for your dilemma. Accept the 2-year offer because you can always cancel it later. Houston CC offers a pharmacology class that THEY choose YOU for. Once you take it and do well, you get into the actual nursing clinicals. I accepted a long time ago and then extended for a year. So, they are my backup if I don't get into a four-year university. I figure I can always get the 2-year and bridge over later. Good luck to you. It'd be neat if we ended up in class together!
yeah, I think that I will accept the spot in the ADN program. Then wait and see what UTMB does...
I don't know I already have a BS in biology so its hard to swallow going back to get an Associates degree but I KNEW an accelerated program would be bad news for me. Plus you can get the same entry job as a BSN. PLUS If I get accepted to UTMB I would have to take heath assesment, and Pharmacology over....UGH!
Who knows lots of decisions to make. It would almost be easier for me if UTMB turns me down. HA! Not that I want that--- er can you tell I am nervous? HA! It's just such an important decision.
well have a good weekend guys, see ya monday :)
Pharmacology scares me to death. I've heard nothing but horror stories about it. Good luck!
Hey guys,
We've thought about relocating to the Galveston area after I finish my BSN so I can go to UTMB's MSN program.
I know the school's got a great reputation but how do y'all like the area? How is it living there? We usually go on vacation down there @ least 2 x yr., however, I know visiting vs. living somewhere can be totally different...lol
P.S. Sorry :offtopic: :imbar

Hi Kelly. I wish I had some answers for you. Like you, I've visited Galveston- have not lived there. Usually, we stay at Moody Gardens which is a nice resort; however, I personally have not been impressed with the housing I've seen there. Now, having said that, I may have missed the good residential area and/or maybe there are nice outlying areas to live in. Good luck.
PS I got turned down for UT-Houston today, so hopefully UTMB will accept me. I would have to commute, but it would be worth it.

i kind of agree with you on the housing part. when i have traveled to galveston, i really didn't like what i saw for housing. also like you i wondered if i was just in the wrong parts of town and missing the nicer section. on an odd twist though, i got lost driving once and found out where the hospital was :)
sorry to hear that you didn't get into ut-houston hopefully you'll get into utmb.
