leaving the community... but where

I am sad.. I am an RPN in Ontario Canada working in home healthcare... After much thought and pain it looks like i have to give up homecare due to financial reasons... the pay just isn't there right now and I need to support my child... i love my job... and this is hard... not only will i have to give up community nursing... We will have to leave the area we live in...

I am in a rural area with small hospitals which only employ about 4 RPN's and someone has to retire or die before you can get in.. The other opportunities are Retirement Homes and LTC which unfortunately in this area makes less $$$ than community nursing... I have been on interviews and its just not feasible to live off that money...

Now I just don't know if i will go back to Hamilton (not a fan but my family is there) or start off fresh in a new place... I would like to get out of Ontario but I don't know if its that feasible at this point... I am also going to have to put getting my degree on hold...

Today is a sad day for me... and i just needed somewhere to vent and see if anyone has any ideas...

So I am attending my first international career fair in Toronto for healthcare.. This will be a place to see whats out there... online is limited....

(hopefully all my rambling makes sense)

*hugs* I'm sorry you had to make such a hard decision.

 I'm sorry. I can't imagine giving up a job you enjoy. Hopefully something is right around the corner for you.

It's tough to just up and move but you are doing it to better your situation, which is commendable.

I am sending you good thoughts for a positive outcome.

Trish....hugs to you. Your post did make me giggle when you wrote "Hamilton (not a fan). I grew up there and it was often referred to as "the mistake by the lake."

Good luck with your search, TO and the burbs......that is where my heart longs to be!
