Lab Coat?!

So my program has specific guidlines on our scrubs and shoes, but it is vague on coats. We don't need a coat, but the guidelines say either a lab coat or a cardigan (not specifying the color).

Our campus store is getting rid of their current lab coat style. We have a new dean and she thinks the lab coats that the school has makes us look like physicians because of the length! Lol So, I don't know what they want us to wear.

I'm always cold, so I want to get a coat to wear with my scrubs. I'm unsure about what the rules say about the cardigan? Does that mean a warm-up coat or do you think I can get away with a solid color light jacket?

I would check directly with the school about details before spending money on anything. You don't want to buy something and find out after the fact that it doesn't meet the dress code requirements (the ones they weren't specific about in the handbook, but I'm sure they have ...)

We do have to have the lab coats but from what I have heard most people don't wear them. I think you can wear a long sleeve white shirt beneath your scrubs at my school if you are cold natured. I can only imagine what I will end up wearing or not wearing as the case may be since I'm having the lovely change of life. :sniff:

Yes, but my school's cardigans (by Landeau) are actually a type of warm-up jacket. NOT sweaters.

In our school and a few others I know of you cant wear lab coats during clinicals...only from your car to clinical site or around the hospital on break. We have to take it off on the floor. I have no clue why and its on our purchase list as recommended....sigh. I agree with PP to check before you purchase..
